FAW-VW ID.7 Vizzion started pre-sale in China, starting at 33,300 USD

On November 22, FAWVolkswagen ID.7 Vizzion officially initiated pre-sales in China, presenting an official guide price of 237,700 yuan (33,300 USD). FAW-Volkswagen formally calls it “Volkswagen’s global pure electric flagship sedan”.

FAW-VW and SAIC-VW are joint ventures between Volkswagen and two local manufacturers. They produce cars with subtle styling differences.

Previously, the media predicted that the starting price of ID.7 Vizzion would be between 25,000 and 30,000 USD, and the pre-sale price was higher than most media had expected. However, The starting price of ID.7 in many European countries is over 60,000 USD. The price in the Chinese market is almost half that of Europe.

For comparison, the starting price of the Tesla Model Y in China is 266,400 yuan (37,300 USD). The BMW iX3’s starting price is about 285,000 yuan (39,900 USD) (If you check the official BMW China website, you will find that the price is 399,900 yuan, but this car has a discount of about 39%), and the BYD Tang EV is 249,800 yuan (35,000 USD).

The design language of the ID.7 Vizzion aligns with the VW ID family, showcasing a hatchback body and an integrated hidden door handle design on the sides. The car’s dimensions measure 4956mm in length, 1862mm in width, and 1537mm in height, with a substantial wheelbase of 2965mm. Enhancing the driving experience, the roof of the ID.7 Vizzion features a SkyView canopy designed to block 99% of ultraviolet rays and more than 83% of heat.

Under the hood, the ID.7 Vizzion series has an NMC battery boasting a capacity 84.8kWh. The lineup offers both single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive systems. The two-wheel drive model achieves a CLTC range of 642km, while the four-wheel drive variant delivers a CLTC range of 570km. The initial version available for pre-sale is a single-motor rear-wheel drive, offering a peak power of 150kW and a peak torque of 310Nm.

Stepping into the interior, the ID.7 Vizzion boasts a 15-inch 2K floating screen and an AR HUD guidance system. The vehicle is powered by the new-generation car system ID OS 2.0, complemented by iFlytek voice technology for an enhanced user experience. Among its features is the Air hidden air-conditioning system, capable of adjusting wind direction and air volume based on light changes. ID.7 Vizzion also has a Harman Kardon audio system with 16-channel speakers.

Moreover, the ID.7 Vizzion integrates an assisted driving system 3.0. This system introduces an interactive lane change assistance function and supports IPA + TPA parking.

At present, Volkswagen’s pure electric vehicles have a market share of about 4% in China, which is far lower than major competitors such as BYD and Tesla.
