Chery Fengyun A8 plug-in hybrid sedan with 1,400 km range pre-sale starts at 18,200 USD

On December 24, Chery officially announced the pre-sale price range of its upcoming Fengyun A8 PHEV sedan at 130,000 – 150,000 yuan (18,200 – 21,000 USD). The Fengyun A8 is the PHEV version of the Arrizo 8 model that was unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in April this year. The new car is expected to launch on January 3, 2024.

Earlier in September this year, Chery brought back the Fengyun series to focus on new energy vehicles and plans to launch 11 models in the next two years. The first model is the Fengyun A8.

The exterior features a large polygonal front grille, through-type taillights, a hidden exhaust outlet layout, and a roof spoiler. The car logo can also be lit up.

The Fengyun A8 measures 4780/1843/1487 mm, and the wheelbase is 2790 mm. From the side, chrome-plated decorative strips are added to details such as the side window edges, exterior mirrors, and side skirts.

The car runs on 17-inch rims with tire specifications of 215/55R17.

The interior is equipped with a 24.6-inch dual-screen comprising of an instrument panel and a central control screen that comes with a built-in Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, paired with a multi-function three-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel.

Other configurations include 10 airbags, ambient lighting, a Sony brand audio system, wireless charging for mobile phones, a large panoramic sunroof, and a level 2 advanced driving assistance system that supports adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring.

The powertrain comes from Chery’s Kunpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM system consisting of a fifth-generation ACTECO 1.5TGDI hybrid engine and a permanent magnet synchronous motor, mated to a DHT150. The engine outputs 115 kW and 220 Nm while the motor outputs 150 kW and 310 Nm. Its 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time is 7 seconds. In addition, its 18.3 kWh lithium battery pack provides a pure electric cruising range of 106 km (WLTC) and more than 1,400 km comprehensive range (WLTC). Under fast charging, it takes 19 minutes to replenish the battery from 30% to 80%.
