On February 21st, we received news that Buick has officially launched the upgraded version of the E4 electric vehicle in China. The new model is available in four different configurations, with prices ranging from 159,900 to 229,900 yuan (22,200 USD to 32,000 USD). The E4 was originally launched in mid-2023 with a starting price of 26,400 USD. The new price with steep discounts indicates the ongoing price war happening in China’s NEV sector.

The vehicle comes equipped with the latest eConnect smart connectivity system, which includes a variety of in-car applications such as Migu Quick Game, Migu, Kugou Music, and QQ Music. Additionally, the intelligent voice experience has been upgraded with the addition of multiple voice options for users to choose from.

In terms of range, the top-of-the-line model offers a maximum power output of 211 kW, peak torque of 465 Nm, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds. It has a CLTC-rated (China’s standardized system) range of 620 kilometers. The three single-motor versions provide a maximum power output of 180 kW, a peak torque of 330 Nm, an acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds, and a CLTC-rated range of 530 kilometers. As an entry-level mid-size SUV in SAIC General Motors’ Buick lineup, the car was reported to have high sales aims when it was first introduced last year. With the introduction of the upgraded model, a steep discount off its original price, all the while significantly enhancing the smart technology features, makes this vehicle even more appealing to consumers by offering better value for money. This is definitely a development worth paying attention to, and we will keep an eye on its sales performance in 2024.
