100,000th Geely Galaxy L7 SUV produced in China

Today saw the 100,000th Geely Galaxy L7 roll off the production line. It is just short of one year ago that the PHEV SUV officially launched on May 31, 2023.

Geely’s Galaxy range is dedicated to new energy vehicles and consists of both PHEV and fully electric models. The L7 was the first car to launch in the Galaxy range and is a compact SUV designed to compete with cars such as the BYD Song Plus DM-i. March 1 saw the launch of the Longteng Edition which is the 2024 year model which not only lowered the price but upgraded the configuration.

Upgrades concentrated on safety and comfort features including front and rear side airbags, head airbags, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, lane keeping assistance, electric folding of rearview mirrors, adaptive high and low beams, heated front seats, and a passenger entertainment screen.

Power come from the Geely NordThor (Thor) PHEV powertrain which consists of a 1.5T four cylinder petrol engine and a 3-speed inverter electric drive DHT; the engine provided a maximum of 120 kW power and 255 Nm torque. There is a front mounted electric motor which provides up to 107 kW power and 338 Nm of torque. Combined figures for the system are 287 kW power and 535 Nm of torque.

All-electric range is either 55 km or 115 km depending on whether the car has the 9.11 or 18.7 kWh battery pack. Batteries are lithium iron phosphate and are supplied by both Svolt and CATL. Combined range for the two versions are 1,310 and 1,370 km respectively.

Official prices for the 2024 model range from 125,700 to 169,700 yuan (17,350 – 23,400 USD) however they seem to be currently available for between 113,700 to 165,700 yuan (15,700 – 22,850 USD) after discounting.

Along with the L7 the Geely Galaxy range currently consists of another SUV the L6, also a PHEV, and the all-electric E8 sedan. This year will see the addition of the new E5 all-electric SUV and there should also be another two new models. The Beijing Auto Show also saw the unveiling of the Galaxy Starship concept.
