On June 11, Xpeng announced that the first vehicle under its new Mona series is called the Xpeng M03, positioned as a compact pure electric sedan. Earlier, He Xiaopeng, chairman of Xpeng, stated that the first model of the Mona series will be unveiled in June and officially launched in the third quarter of this year with a price tag of less than 200,000 yuan (27,600 USD).

The production takes place at Xpeng’s Zhaoqing plant in Guangdong, China, which is also the manufacturing plant of the Xpeng P7. So far, the trial car has rolled off the production line.

Mona stands for “Made Of New AI”, with a focus on intelligent driving. The Xpeng M03 is a collaboration between Xpeng and Didi, in which Didi is responsible for the design, partial R&D, and sales, while Xpeng is responsible for the partial R&D, supply chain, and manufacturing, as well as sales to ordinary consumers. It is worth pointing out that Mona was previously considered to be a sub-brand under Xpeng. However, that is not the case anymore. Rather, Mona is a new series under Xpeng, as evident by the Xpeng logo used on the M03’s closed front face and Xpeng has been calling Mona a series.

The Xpeng M03 is expected to come in three different exterior colors, namely, blue, beige blue, and beige pink, according to the warmup images shared by Xpeng on Chinese social media.

From the official image, the Xpeng M03 adopts a blue exterior body and combines with a fastback shape. The rear features T-shaped taillights on both sides, similar to the front, as well as a small ducktail spoiler, based on the spy shot. At the same time, a roof lidar is absent. Additionally, He Xiaopeng indicated in an earlier interview that the Xpeng M03 will be based on the brand’s Fuyao architecture, which includes XNGP (Xpeng navigation guided pilot) and X-EEA3.0 electronic/electrical architecture. The battery supplier includes BYD, and the range will exceed 500 km, according to previously exposed information.

Furthermore, Mona’s sales channel will initially adopt a “store-in-store” concept, where a store will be opened inside an existing Xpeng store in the early stage, in addition to online vehicle fleets and other vehicle fleet operators.
