This is Chery’s Fulwin A8L C-DM sedan, Fulwin A8’s successor, as part of the Fulwin A8 C-DM series, adopting a new front and rear design as well as a longer body, and is powered by a 1.5T plug-in hybrid system. The official launch will be later this year.
For reference, the Fulwin A8 series currently on the market (Fulwin A8 and Fulwin A8 Voyage Edition) have a price range of 109,900 – 146,900 yuan (15,400 – 20,600 USD). In September, 2,471 Fulwin A8s were sold.
The Fulwin A8L C-DM had already been declared by the Chinese MIIT last month.
For the exterior, the Fulwin 8AL C-DM comes with a more round octagonal grille with dot matrix decoration on the front face. The slender headlights are no longer connected to the grille.
At the rear, most noticeably, the “CHERY” logo is replaced with the “FULWIN” logo and the taillight shape differs. Reflective strips are also added to both sides on the bumper. The hidden exhaust layout is still used.
The side profile remains unchanged, equipped with conventional door handles and multi-spoke rims. The car runs on either 17-inch or 18-inch rims. At the same time, a “Lifetime Warranty” nameplate is added to the quarter glass.
The length, width, and height of the Fulwin A8L C-DM are 4790/1843/1487 mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is 2790 mm, which is 10 mm longer than the Fulwin A8, while the other dimensions remain the same. The curb weight options are 1730 kg and 1770 kg. A new exterior paint called “Green Bamboo Gray” is also available.
The Fulwin A8L C-DM continues to be powered by Chery’s Kunpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM system consisting of a 1.5T engine and an electric motor, with a maximum engine power of 115 kW (154 hp) and a peak torque of 220 Nm. Its 18.67 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack is supplied by Gotion High-tech, offering a pure electric range of 106 km (assuming under CLTC conditions), according to the Chinese MIIT. The top speed is 185 km/h.
