On May 21, Xiaomi Auto shared the first official video of the YU7 electric SUV interior. This large, high-performance crossover boasts a panoramic display above the center console called HyperVision. It isn’t a screen but a panoramic head-up display that such automakers as BMW are currently developing.

Xiaomi also shared official images of the YU7 SUV in a new “Emerald Green” body color ahead of the first official presentation scheduled for May 22. The company officials shared that more color combinations of the YU7 will be revealed during tomorrow’s event. This is the first Xiaomi crossover that will compete with other high-performance EVs, including the Tesla Model Y.

In a short clip, we can see the major highlight of the Xiaomi YU7 interior. It is the Xiaomi HyperVision panoramic head-up display (PHUD). It projects the image on the bottom part of the windshield, acting like a large HUD. This display is highly configurable. It can show information about power and speed, a navigation system, and ADAS tips for the driver.

The main benefit of the PHUD is its position. The image from the head-up display sits far from the driver, being more immersive. It lowers the risks of collisions and accidents. The adoption of the HyperVision display allowed Xiaomi to remove the conventional instrument panel from the center console.

The Xiaomi YU7 adopts a three-spoke steering wheel with a flat bottom similar to the previously launched SU7 Ultra performance sedan. The car’s gear shifter sits on the steering column. The center console of the car adopts a clean design with smooth surfaces. The center tunnel of the YU7 has two wireless phone charging pads.

Xiaomi YU7 in Emerald Green

Xiaomi officially released six images of the YU7 in the green shade called “Emerald Green”. Xiaomi shared that this color is inspired by Colombian emeralds. It is widely believed that local emeralds have top-notch color, purity, and vibrancy. Xiaomi Auto achieved the emerald texture and color through a double-layer paint process.

Xiaomi Auto also shared that Emerald Green is a color with high saturation. Another benefit is the ability to change color according to a light source. The brand officials concluded that this shade blends industrial and natural aesthetics.

Previously, the Xiaomi YU7 was seen in China wearing a blue body color. The YU7 showed up in the Chinese MIIT listing with the same shade.

It is worth noting that other Xiaomi cars don’t have the same body color. The Xiaomi SU7 sedan offers a distant shade called “Olive Green.” And the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra performance EV has a “Parrot Green” color. It is also very different from the “Emerald Green” of the YU7 SUV.

Briefly about Xiaomi YU7

The Xiaomi YU7 is a large electric crossover with dimensions of 4999/1996/1608 mm and a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. It has two power configurations. The entry-level model has a single e-motor in the rear axle for 235 kW (315 hp). The second modification boasts a dual-motor 4WD for 508 kW (681 hp). This variant can speed to 253 km/h. The YU7 has two battery packs available: 96.3 kWh and 101.7 kWh. Its range reaches 820 km under CLTC conditions.
