Chairman Yin Tongyue announced at the 2025 International Automotive and Supply Chain Expo (Hong Kong) on June 12 that Chery is set to become the first Chinese automaker to surpass 5 million cumulative vehicle exports around June 20. This event marks Chery’s debut at the Hong Kong Auto Expo, and the company plans to officially launch its vehicles in the Hong Kong market later this year.

Chery showcased 12 new energy vehicles (NEVs) across seven sub-brands—including Chery, Exeed, Jetour, iCAR, Luxeed, Omoda, and Jaecoo—covering various mobility needs from daily commuting to off-road exploration. This diverse lineup underlines Chery’s commitment to electrification and product variety.

From January to May 2025, Chery Group sold 1,026,517 vehicles, a 14% increase compared to last year. NEV sales surged 111.5% year-on-year to 287,798 units, while exports reached 443,940 cars, reinforcing Chery’s position as China’s leading vehicle exporter. On average, one Chery vehicle ships overseas every 29 seconds.

In May alone, the group sold 205,732 vehicles (up 9.1%), including 191,567 units by Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. (up 7.2%). NEV sales in May were 63,169 units (up 47.7%), with exports totalling 100,737 units (up 7.7%). As of May’s end, Chery’s global user base exceeded 16.7 million, with more than 4.94 million overseas users.

Earlier in 2025, Chery submitted a listing application to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, aiming to leverage Hong Kong as its global finance, logistics, innovation, and talent hub. The company also plans to explore establishing a manufacturing base in Hong Kong, furthering its global production ambitions.

Financially, Chery reported revenue of 182.15 billion yuan (approx. 25.1 billion USD) and net profit of 11.31 billion yuan (approx. 1.56 billion USD) for the first three quarters of 2024. At the expo, Chery showcased advanced technologies, including a 48%-efficiency Kunpeng Tianqing engine, a 30,000 rpm high-speed electric motor, and intelligent products like the Mogu robot.

Executives confirmed that proceeds from the planned IPO will primarily support new energy vehicle R&D and overseas market expansion, emphasising Chery’s long-term commitment to technology-driven growth.
