Geely Galaxy A7 EM-i introduces Leishen AI Hybrid 2.0 with 2,100 km range & 47.26% thermal efficiency
Geely has revealed that the Galaxy A7 EM-i, a mid-size plug-in hybrid sedan, is the first vehicle to adopt the new Leishen AI Hybrid 2.0 system. The A7 EM-i is scheduled to enter the Chinese market in the third quarter of 2025, with pricing expected between 100,000 and 130,000 yuan (approx. 14,000 to 18,200 USD).

The Galaxy A7 EM-i’s standout feature is its impressive combined driving range of over 2,100 km, which is made possible by Geely’s latest EM-i hybrid system. This powertrain pairs a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine with an electric motor, achieving a class-leading thermal efficiency of 47.26%. In real-world testing, fuel consumption in depleted battery mode is as low as 2.49 litres per 100 km. According to Geely, new AI algorithms integrated into the system also help extend battery lifespan by 15% through precise current control.

Designed for everyday efficiency and long-distance usability, the A7 EM-i supports multiple battery configurations, offering electric-only ranges of either 55 km or 120 km, depending on the selected pack. The model aims squarely at competitors like the BYD Qin L and Wuling Starlight, providing a new option in China’s growing plug-in hybrid sedan market.

Visually, the Galaxy A7 EM-i follows Geely’s family design language, with a closed-off front grille, a full-width LED light strip, and a front bumper featuring trapezoidal and chrome-accented elements that add a sporty edge. The side profile is marked by a pronounced double waistline and dark trim around the windows, while the rear includes a clean, full-width taillight and a subtly raised ducktail spoiler.

In terms of size, the A7 EM-i measures 4,918 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,845 mm. This places it squarely between the Galaxy L6 and the larger Galaxy Starshine 8 in Geely’s lineup, offering generous cabin space.

Inside, the A7 EM-i adopts a contemporary and tech-oriented layout. The cabin features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.4-inch floating central display. The dashboard incorporates a minimalist gear selector, ambient lighting, wood grain accents, and gloss-black panels, all designed to enhance the cabin’s premium appeal. Practical features include wireless charging, a physical rotary knob for media controls, and a hidden storage compartment.

The A7 EM-i runs Geely’s Flyme Auto system, which supports OTA (over-the-air) updates and is equipped with intelligent energy management. Geely claims the AI-driven scene engine can dynamically adjust power distribution based on real-time driving scenarios to optimise efficiency.

The Geely Galaxy A7 EM-i strengthens the brand’s presence in the affordable plug-in hybrid sedan segment by combining advanced hybrid technology with a refined design and high-efficiency figures. With its launch set for the second half of 2025, it will likely appeal to budget-conscious buyers seeking a long-range, intelligent, and stylish alternative to more established rivals.
