Geely will officially unveil its latest mid-size plug-in hybrid sedan, the Galaxy A7 EM-i, on June 19. As the newest addition to the Galaxy lineup, the A7 adopts the brand’s updated design language. It introduces Geely’s latest Leishen EM-i Super Electric Hybrid system, offering a claimed total range of over 2,100 km. The model is expected to go on sale later this year, targeting competitors like the BYD Seal 06 DM-i and BYD Qin L.

Positioned between the Galaxy L6 and Starshine 8 in Geely’s lineup, the Galaxy A7 EM-i features a 1.5-litre dedicated hybrid engine (model BHE15-BFN) with a 175 kW P3 electric motor. This EM-i hybrid system achieves a thermal efficiency of 47.26%, and Geely claims a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of just 7.1 seconds. Fuel consumption in battery-depleted mode is rated at 2.67 L/100 km under the CLTC cycle.

The Galaxy A7 EM-i supports lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries in three configurations: 8.5 kWh, 18.4 kWh, and 18.99 kWh. Depending on the version, these offer pure electric driving ranges of 55 km and 120 km. Intelligent energy management algorithms integrated into the EM-i platform are designed to extend battery lifespan and optimise power distribution in real-time.

Visually, the Galaxy A7 EM-i sports a fully enclosed front grille, a signature across the Galaxy range, combined with a full-width LED headlight strip. The lower front bumper integrates trapezoidal air inlets and silver chrome accents, while the rear mirrors the front design with a minimalist light bar and a squared-off profile. The vehicle’s double waistline design enhances its dynamic side view while maintaining a clean and understated look at the rear.

The Galaxy A7 EM-i measures 4,918 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,845 mm. These proportions place it firmly within the mid-size sedan segment, and its spacious interior is comparable to that of its plug-in hybrid rivals.

Inside, the Galaxy A7 EM-i shares design cues with the Starshine 8, including a 15.4-inch floating central screen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, and a dual-spoke multifunction steering wheel. The centre console features a column-mounted gear selector, wireless phone charging pad, covered storage compartments, and a dedicated physical control area for media and comfort settings.

The car runs Geely’s Flyme Auto operating system, which supports OTA updates and AI-driven scene recognition for adaptive power management. The system also includes a rotary controller for added tactile functionality.

Pricing is yet to be announced, but based on its market positioning between the Galaxy L6 (7.98–10.68 yuan) and Starshine 8 (12.58–16.58 yuan), the Galaxy A7 EM-i is widely expected to be priced between 100,000 and 130,000 yuan (approx. 14,000 to 18,200 USD). At that level, it will directly compete with mid-size PHEVs like the BYD Seal 06 DM-i (9.98–13.98 yuan) and Qin L DM (9.98–15.38 yuan), both of which are seeing increasing popularity in China’s growing plug-in hybrid segment.

Geely has already released official images of the A7 in a white exterior finish, with additional colour options expected to follow at launch. The car’s clean styling, hybrid efficiency, and innovative connectivity features suggest it will appeal to urban buyers seeking long-range capabilities without compromising design or technology. Further information will be revealed on June 19, we will report on the updates in detail then.
