Geely has officially unveiled the Galaxy A7 EM-i, its first plug-in hybrid sedan built on the GEA (Geely Electric Architecture) platform. The model marks the debut of the newly branded “Geely EM AI Super Hybrid 2.0” system, previously known as Leishen or NordThor Hybrid 2.0, and is positioned between the Galaxy L6 and the Starshine 8 in Geely’s expanding Galaxy lineup. The Galaxy A7 EM-i is expected to go on sale later this year and is aimed squarely at competitors such as the BYD Seal 06 DM-i and BYD Qin L.

The Galaxy A7 EM-i is powered by a dedicated hybrid powertrain featuring a 1.5-litre engine (BHE15-BFN) and a P3 electric motor producing 175 kW. Geely claims a class-leading engine thermal efficiency of 47.26%, 0–100 km/h acceleration in just 7.1 seconds, and a top speed of 190 km/h. Under CLTC conditions, the fuel consumption in charge-depleted mode is rated at just 2.67 L/100 km.

Buyers can choose between three LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery configurations: 8.5 kWh, 18.4 kWh, and 18.99 kWh. Depending on the variant, these provide all-electric ranges of 55 km, 70 km, 120 km, or 150 km. The EM-i platform also includes intelligent energy management algorithms to optimise power distribution and extend battery lifespan in real-time. The vehicle achieves a CLTC combined range exceeding 2,100 kilometres.

The Galaxy A7 EM-i visually follows the “Galaxy Ripple” design language, with a fully enclosed grille, full-width 196-LED light strip, and sculpted bumper featuring trapezoidal air inlets and silver chrome detailing. The double waistline and sleek profile add to its aerodynamic appeal, while the rear is finished with a minimalist light bar and integrated Geely lettering. Official photos highlight a white exterior, with six total colour options expected at launch.

The A7 measures 4,918 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a 2,845 mm wheelbase, making it larger than rival like the BYD Qin L. It offers a spacious interior to match. It rides on 19-inch Continental tyres (235/45 R19) and incorporates multiple exterior cameras to support a comprehensive driver-assistance suite.

Inside, the Galaxy A7 EM-i mirrors the cabin of the larger Starshine 8. It features a 15.4-inch floating centre display running the Flyme Auto system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a dual-spoke steering wheel. The Flyme Auto cockpit supports CarPlay, HiCar, ICCOA, and Flyme Link and offers OTA updates, AI-driven scene recognition, and adaptive energy management. A rotary controller provides additional tactile control.

The centre console has a column-mounted gear selector, wireless charging pad, hidden storage compartments, and physical controls for media and climate. The vehicle also includes a 16-speaker Flyme Sound audio system, a 16.6-inch head-up display, a panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade, and 256-colour ambient lighting. The rear seat offers a 4/6 split-fold design, expanding trunk capacity from 535 to 988 litres.

Comfort features include ventilated, heated front seats with headrest speakers and eight massage modes. The rear seats offer a 550 mm cushion width and 120-degree recline.

While pricing is yet to be confirmed, analysts expect the Galaxy A7 EM-i to retail between 100,000 and 130,000 yuan (approx. 14,000 to 18,200 USD), placing it between the Galaxy L6 and Starshine 8.
