Recently, the Geely Haoyue R7 was revealed as a “battery-swappable range-extender multi-purpose passenger vehicle” by the Chinese MIIT.

The Geely Haoyue R7’s appearance looks similar to that of the Geely Livan 7 all-electric SUV with swappable batteries, adopting a through-type light strip in the front and also in the tail. The Geely Haoyue R7 has a length, width, and height of 4680/1892/1650 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2778 mm. For reference, the Geely Livan 7 measures 4690/1892/1650 mm with a 2775 mm wheelbase. Two trims were declared with curb weights of 1760 kg and 1960 kg by the Chinese MIIT.

Additionally, in the rear, the Livan logo is replaced by the Geely letter logo.

Power comes from a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine (model BHE15-BFN) with a maximum power of 82 kW (110 hp) as a range extender, paired with lithium iron phosphate battery. The top speed is 185 km/h. Interestingly, the declared information also shows that the vehicle can be sold separately from the battery in compliance with relevant national regulations, similar to Nio’s battery rental and replacement solution.

It seems that Geely re-branded the Livan 7 into an EREV and kept the swappable battery feature, especially since the sales performance of the Livan 7 looked sluggish. In May, only 124 units of the Livan 7 were sold and its 2025 cumulative sales volume was only 615 units. Furthermore, only 4,493 units were sold in 2024.

Furthermore, consumers will be able to choose optional configurations including hidden door handles, rim shapes, dual-color body, exterior mirror designs, and front cameras. The Geely Haoyue R7 also runs on 215/55R18 and 215/60R17 tires.

Currently, there is no mainstream electric vehicle that supports both a range extender and battery swapping. Traditionally, battery swapping is applied on pure electric vehicles as a method to reduce the time spent recharging the battery. The Geely Haoyue R7 will be the first of its kind on the market once launched.
