Spy photos of the upcoming Xiaomi YU7 Max, the high-performance flagship YU7 variant, have surfaced online, revealing the performance-focused trim of Xiaomi’s soon-to-launch electric SUV. The YU7 Max, spotted in what appears to be its fully equipped configuration, features extensive carbon fibre elements and high-end performance hardware, reinforcing Xiaomi’s ambitions in the premium EV space.
The new images show carbon fibre details across key exterior and interior areas, including the steering wheel, dashboard, rear spoiler, ducktail, side mirrors, hood accents, and headlight surrounds. The vehicle also rides on large 21-inch forged alloy wheels, distinguishing it from standard variants. Xiaomi has confirmed the YU7 will officially launch by the end of June 2025.
Built on the same Modena platform as the SU7 sedan, the YU7 adopts a more practical SUV silhouette, fastback styling, and a body length of around 4.8 meters. It features higher ground clearance, a more upright rear roofline for improved rear headroom, and a roomier cabin. These design choices mark the YU7 as a family-friendly alternative to the sportier SU7.
The YU7 Max is powered by a high-performance dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing 690 horsepower (508 kW) and 866 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.23 seconds, reaching a top speed of 253 km/h. It uses a 101.7 kWh ternary lithium battery with an 800V electrical architecture, delivering a CLTC range of up to 760 km. Its hardware features include Brembo four-piston callipers, dual-chamber air suspensions, and 5.2C super-fast charging.
Chinese regulatory filings also reveal standard variants of the YU7, which will feature a 145 kW front and 220 kW rear motor, totalling 365 kW (489 hp). The Max variant tested uses a more powerful 220 kW front and 285 kW rear motor configuration.
Inside, the cabin mirrors the SU7’s tech-forward interior, equipped with Xiaomi’s HyperOS, a Snapdragon 8295 chip, and a 16.1-inch infotainment display. The vehicle also uses Nvidia’s Drive Orin platform to power its L2+ Xiaomi Pilot Pro driver assistance suite, featuring lidar, surround-view cameras, and ultrasonic sensors.
Designed by former BMW designer Tianyuan Li, the YU7 blends Xiaomi’s digital DNA with dynamic SUV proportions. Car News China estimate the YU7 to start around 245,900 yuan (approx. 34,100 USD) base price, positioning it as a rival to the Tesla Model Y and reinforcing its aggressive push into the EV market.
