The A7 was first revealed in China on June 19. Positioned as a mid-size plug-in hybrid sedan, the Galaxy A7 is expected to compete with rivals such as the BYD Qin L DM-i.
The EM-i hybrid system combines a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine delivering 82 kW (110 hp) with an electric motor rated at 175 kW (235 hp), linked via an 11-in-1 electric drive unit. According to Geely, the A7 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds. Fuel consumption under China’s CLTC cycle is listed at 2.67 L/100 km. On a full charge and fuel tank, the hybrid range exceeds 2,100 km. Two battery options are expected—8.5 kWh and 18.4 kWh—with corresponding all-electric ranges of 70 km and 150 km, respectively (CLTC).
Dimensionally, the Galaxy A7 measures 4,918 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,845 mm. These figures place it ahead of direct competitors such as the BYD Qin L in overall size. The vehicle features a fastback sedan silhouette with a drag coefficient of 0.229 Cd. Exterior styling includes a closed-off front grille, a 196-pixel LED light strip spanning the front, and 19-inch alloy wheels in a “blade” design. Six exterior colours will be offered: Enamel Blue, Frost Silver, Ink White, Obsidian Black, Misty Grey, and Sky Grey.
Inside, the Galaxy A7 introduces Geely’s new Flyme Auto intelligent cockpit system, co-developed with Meizu. Built on the Xingrui AI Cloud 2.0 platform, Flyme Auto integrates navigation, real-time OTA updates, and AI voice control with four-zone speech recognition, multi-command interaction, and compatibility with Huawei HiCar and CarLink.
The cabin layout features a 15.4-inch 2.5K infotainment screen, a digital 8.8-inch instrument cluster, and a head-up display (HUD) on higher trims. Three interior themes are offered: Snow White, Autumn Brown, and Misty Grey. The vehicle includes a panoramic sunroof measuring 0.87 m², physical rotary knobs for climate and volume control, and 50W dual wireless chargers.
All seats are upholstered in leather, with the front seats offering heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Rear seatbacks recline up to 120 degrees and can be folded in a 4/6 split, allowing the trunk to expand to 988 litres.
Driver assistance systems include Geely’s G-Pilot H3 suite with highway NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) and APA (Automatic Parking Assist) capabilities. Top trims also feature a 16-speaker Flyme Sound audio system.
The Galaxy A7 aims to fill the market space between the Galaxy L6 EM-i sedan and the Starshine 8, expanding Geely’s plug-in hybrid lineup with a long-range, AI-integrated sedan option.
