All-new Xpeng P7 started sales in China at 30,730 USD and got 10K orders in 7 mins

The all-new Xpeng P7 electric liftback with a dual-motor 4WD for 437 kW (586 hp) and 2,250 TOPS of computing power started sales in China. Its entry-level trim costs 219,800 yuan (30,730 USD). The new P7 became a hot seller in China by getting 10,000 orders in 7 minutes.

The first-gen Xpeng P7 entered the Chinese market in 2020. Its cumulative domestic sales volume reached 190,935 units, according to China EV DataTracker. The P7 became the global model by launching in Europe and other regions. Five years ago, Xpeng kicked off sales of the next-gen P7 with enhanced tech and a new design language.

 The all-new P7 is a sleek liftback that adopts the latest Xmart Face design language. The front end of the car adopts a slim LED strip and an illuminated Xpeng logo. The car has an active air intake in the front bumper that can be closed to reduce the drag. Other fine features of the P7’s styling include a sleek roofline, retractable door handles, and an active spoiler. As a result, this EV has a drag coefficient of 0.201 Cd.

The Xpeng P7 rides on 20-inch or 21-inch wheels. Its dimensions are 5017/1970/1427 mm with a wheelbase of 3,008 mm. The performance variant of the Xpeng P7 boasts scissor doors and four-piston Brembo brakes. Six body colors with unusual names are available: Rhythm Yellow, Twilight Purple, Starlight Blue, Starry Green, Crescent Silver, and Star Gray.

From the back, the Xpeng P7 has a single taillight unit made of 220 LED elements. The tailgate opens with a rear glass. Its opening is 1,001 mm long, 1,030 mm wide, and 1,140 mm deep. The car’s active rear spoiler provides the downforce of up to 900N at a speed of 230 km/h. The P7 also has a front trunk under the hood for 56 liters.

The new Xpeng P7 adopts three interior variants: dark gray, light gray, and purple. Its center console adopts a three-spoke steering wheel covered with Nappa leather. Two knobs on the wheel allow the driver to control driving modes, air suspension, intelligent driving functions, and more.

A large floating 15.6-inch center screen of the P7 can turn 15 degrees left and right & 10 degrees up and down. This monitor is complemented by an 8.8-inch LCD instrument panel and a 87-inch augmented reality head-up display. The Xpeng P7 has 23 speakers with a 7.1.4 sound system. The car’s trunk offers a capacity of 575 liters. With the second row seats folded down, the total volume expands to 1929L.

The driver’s seat of the Xpeng P7 adopts adjustable side support. Both front seats boast 16-way adjustment, ventilation, heating, and massage functions. The second-row seats have a height of 264 mm.

The new Xpeng P7 primarily relies on cameras for driver assistance functions. They send information to three Turing AI chips, self-developed by Xpeng. Each SoC has a computing power of 750 TOPS (Trillion Operations Per Second). And the Xpeng P7 uses three of these chips, bringing the computing power number to 2,250 TOPS. It supports VLA (Vision-Language-Action) and VLM (Vision-Language Models) large language AI models. They help the car to think and respond to different driving scenarios.

The Xpeng P7 comes standard with an 800V high-voltage system. Its entry-level variant has a single e-motor in the rear axle for 270 kW (362 hp). The AWD variant boasts a combined peak power output of 437 kW (586 hp), achieving a zero-to-hundred acceleration time of 3.7 seconds. Two battery variants are available: LFP for 74.9 kWh and ternary NMC for 92.2 kWh. The range is 702 – 820 km (CLTC).

The Xpeng P7 achieves a near 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution. It adopts a front double wishbone and rear five-link suspension, along with dual-chamber air suspension and CDC variable damping shock absorbers.

The Xpeng P7 became available for purchase in China with four trim levels priced between 219,800 and 301,800 yuan (30,730 and 41,190 USD). For comparison, the hot-selling Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan costs 215,900 – 299,900 yuan (30,170 – 41,910 USD). Xpeng officials shared that the new P7 got 10,000 orders 7 minutes after the launch had finished. We listed trims and prices of the new P7 below.
