The updated JAC E30X electric hatchback with a starting price of 69,900 yuan (9,800 USD) was seen in China with the face of Huawei’s flagship SUV, Aito M9, which starts at 469,900 yuan (65,800 USD). This styling adjustment looks like a desperate measure to enhance the E30X’s domestic sales.

The JAC E30X sells in China under the JAC Yiwei 3 (Yittrium 3) name. This model entered the domestic market in June 2023 with a starting price of 97,900 yuan (13,700 USD). The demand for this model wasn’t high, so its price dropped to 69,900 yuan.

However, this step didn’t improve the situation as JAC E30X’s cumulative deliveries reached 24,833 units in China, as of July 2025, according to China EV DataTracker. Now, JAC gets ready to make a bold move of launching the updated E30X with a front end resembling the Aito M9 from Seres and Huawei.

More about JAC E30X

The updated JAC E30X was seen in China on September 4. Its front end was covered with camouflage. However, this film didn’t hide its exterior adjustments at all. The new E30X has two bottle-shaped headlights joined by an LED strip. This block of lights forms a distinguishing gauntlet form of the Aito M9 flagship SUV. The front bumper also aligns with Huawei’s flagship crossover.

Interestingly, the JAC E30X’s rear end has no other exterior adjustments. It has smooth body panels, retractable door handles, square taillights, and a minimalistic rear bumper. Other features of the car include five-spoke rims and blackened pillars.

The Chinese market is well-known for making cheap copies of famous and expensive vehicles. However, it is typical only for the segment of low-speed electric vehicles (LSEV). These cars usually offer a few hp and a price tag under 30,000 yuan (4,200 USD). We can highlight the Yunlei LSEV, which is a copycat of the Xiaomi SU7. However, the real car segment is a different story, with rare cases of plagiarism.

It is unknown what JAC was aiming for with the redesign of the E30X. It is worth noting that this state-owned company runs the Maextro joint brand with Huawei. Its model line currently comprises a single model, which is the S800 luxurious NEV sedan, with a price range between 708,000 and 1,018,000 yuan (99,150 – 142,550 USD). It seems that the ongoing cooperation between the two parties allowed JAC to use some of Huawei’s ideas.
