The GAC Aion V electric SUV launched in Europe is 2.7 times more expensive than in China. This crossover, the size of the Skoda Enyaq starts at 35,990 EUR (42,210 USD). It offers 510 km of WLTP range, up to 165 kW (221 hp) of power, and a large touchscreen inside.

Aion is a mainstream electric brand under the Guangzhou-based GAC Group. This company sticks to the “One GAC” strategy overseas. Therefore, its stand-alone brands, Chinese brands, are positioned as a series under the GAC brand. Previously, GAC actively entered Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and South America. On September 8, the first GAC model officially launched in Europe. It is the second-gen Aion V electric SUV.

The first generation of the Aion V was launched in China in 2020. This model is well-known for its offspring, the Mitsubishi Airtrek, which was available for purchase in China from 2022 to 2023. The second-gen GAC Aion V entered China in July 2024. This model stands on the new AEP modular architecture. During the Chinese launch, the exterior styling of the new V was compared to dinosaurs like T-Rex. The Aion EV has a lot of sharp edges and distinguishing headlights.

Dimensions of the GAC Aion V are 4605/1854/1660 mm with a wheelbase of 2,775 mm. It offers a five-seat layout. Another feature of this SUV is a large 14.6-inch floating touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The LCD instrument panel and a gear shifter sit behind the two-spoke round steering wheel. The center tunnel of the model adopts wireless charging pads, a couple of cup holders, and a spacious compartment.

The GAC Aion V for Europe comes standard with a heat pump and a built-in refrigerator that also supports a heating function. Other highlights of the V include nine speakers, front seats with an 8-point massage, a 3.3 kW V2G discharge function, and a voice assistant. The GAC Aion V II supports 13 features with L2 driver-assistance features.

The GAC Aion V for Europe offers 510 km of WLTP range, thanks to a 75 kWh battery. Its 10% to 80% charging takes 24 minutes. This SUV has a single electric motor with a peak power output of 165 kW (221 hp). Its zero-to-hundred acceleration time is 7.9 seconds.

The GAC Aion V was launched in Europe with a starting price of 35,990 EUR (42,210 USD). For clarity, the mentioned Skoda Enyaq starts at approximately 43,300 USD. It seems that the Aion V became cheaper than its European rival despite additional tariffs for China-made EVs. However, the domestic price of the Aion V is significantly lower at 109,800 – 193,600 yuan (15,390 – 27,140 USD).
