The Zeekr 9X full-size plug-in hybrid SUV from Geely was launched in China with 1,381 hp, dual-chamber air suspension, and up to 1,250 km of mixed range. Its starting price is 455,900 yuan (63,910 USD). Previously, the Zeekr 9X got 42,667 orders in one hour after the presales had started in China.

Geely Automobile launched Zeekr in 2021 as a high-end BEV brand. However, Zeekr announced a major strategy shift to plug-in hybrids this year. The brand’s first PHEV model is a flagship crossover 9X. It became available for purchase on September 29.

The Zeekr 9X is a full-size SUV with dimensions of 5239/2029/1819 mm. Its wheelbase reaches 3,169 mm. For clarity, it is 32 mm longer, 75 mm wider, and 4 mm lower than the Mercedes-Benz GLS. The Chinese SUV’s exterior styling adopts large C-shaped LED headlights, a large grille, and an active air intake. The 9X also boasts traditional door handles and a circular taillight unit.

The Zeekr 9X offers five body color variants: black, white, silver, gray, and purple. It rides on 22-inch rims with several design variants. The Zeekr 9X has up to 5 LiDAR sensors around the body. This crossover adopts a dual-chamber air suspension with a dual-valve continuous damping control system. Its ground clearance reaches 288 mm in the highest suspension mode. In the lowest mode, this SUV has a ride height of 178 mm. The car’s headlights can project images on the road, interacting with other drivers and pedestrians.

The Zeekr 9X could also be equipped with a 48V active stabilizer bar, which allows the car to minimize body roll during sharp turns. Moreover, the active stabilizer allows for lifting one side in case of collision risk to increase safety. Its other cool functions include safe driving over open wells and maintaining the driving trajectory after a tire puncture at a speed of 120 km/h.

Zeekr 9X interior

The Zeekr 9X cabin adopts six seats with a 2+2+2 layout. It adopts three combinations: deep blue, beige, and brown. The car’s center console has a large block of two 16-inch screens. Customers can also choose a single 16-inch monitor and receive a 5,000 yuan (approximately 700 USD) discount. Other features of the Zeekr 9X include a 47-inch augmented reality head-up display. The car’s rear passengers have an additional 17-inch 3K display on the ceiling. It has a response time of 3 milliseconds and five adjustment angles.

Depending on the trim level, the Zeekr 9X adopts a folding table for the right second-row passenger, a four-way lumbar support & a 22-point massage for the first-row and the second-row seats, and privacy sunshades for each side window. Its second-row seats can also rotate by 180 degrees, similar to the previously launched Lynk & Co 900 from Geely. Other luxury highlights are power-operated doors and an AI voice assistant, Eva.

The entry-level Zeekr 9X adopts the G-Pilot H7 driver assistance system with a single LiDAR sensor and an Nvidia Thor-U chip for 700 TOPS. The top-trim model offers five LiDAR (including a 520-line sensor) and two Nvidia Thor-U SoC for 1,400 TOPS. Zeekr calls this system “the L3-ready model”. It is capable of point-to-point Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) function and self-parking. Another highlight is the Automatic Emergency Steering (AES) system capable of avoiding a collision at 130 km/h.

Zeekr 9X powertrain

The entry-level Zeekr 9X adopts a combination of a 2-liter ICE and two electric motors for 660 kW (885 hp). The 9X Max has a 55 kWh battery on board, suitable for 300 km of electric range under CLTC conditions. The car’s mixed range in PHEV mode reaches 1,200 km. Its zero-to-hundred acceleration time is 3.9 seconds.

The second powertrain variant offers the same combination of ICE and e-motors. However, it has a 70 kWh battery for 380 km of electric range. With a full fuel tank, the 9X can run up to 1,250 km. The top-trim SUV adopts three electric motors for 1,030 kW (1,381 hp). It can run up to 355 km on a single charge. Its mixed range is 1,165 km. It speeds up to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds.

It is worth noting that Zeekr 9X supports the 6C charging technology, thanks to the high-voltage 900V system. It allows charging the battery from 20 to 80% in 8 minutes and 21 seconds. The ICE under the car’s hood can send power to the battery, charging it from 30 to 80% in 90 minutes, even while driving on highways at a speed of 120 km/h.

Zeekr 9X trims and prices

The Zeekr 9X is available in four trim levels. The entry-level Max variant boasts the G-Pilot H7 system and a 4WD system for 660 kW (885 hp). It costs 465,900 yuan (65,310 USD). The second trim level, Ultra, offers comfy second-row seats and privacy sunshades for each side window. It is priced at 485,900 yuan (68,110 USD).

The third-trim Zeekr 9X Hyper boasts a 48V active stabilizer bar, active side support for the driver’s seat, rotating second-row seats, and the G-Pilot H9 ADAS. Its price tag is 559,900 yuan (78,490 USD). The top-trim Zeekr 9X called Obsidian Black costs 599,900 yuan (84,100 USD).

Customers who buy the Zeekr 9X before December 31, 2025, enjoy a 10,000 yuan (1,400 USD) discount. As a result, the price range of this SUV is 455,900 – 589,900 yuan (63,910 – 82,690 USD).
