Chery launched Rely R08 pickup truck in UAE for 17,125 USD
Chery Automobile launched the Rely R08 mid-size pickup truck in the UAE with a starting price of 62,895 AED (17,125 USD), including VAT. This truck boasts an 80-liter fuel tank and a payload capacity of up to 1,000 kg. It is available in petrol and diesel trim levels.
Rely is a commercial brand under Chery, founded in 2019. Last year, it kicked off an aggressive overseas campaign with the R08 pickup truck at its spearhead. In some markets, this car is known as Chery Himla. In February, Chery launched the Rely R08 in the UAE jointly with Al Ghurair Mobility. The first batch of cars is available in the Rely showroom in Dubai.

It is worth noting that the Rely R08 pickup truck was launched in the UAE with a unique front-end styling. It has two large blocks of headlamps instead of two-storey lights with thin DRLs. Other features include a smaller grille and a larger front bumper. A car with such styling has yet to enter the domestic market under the Rely R08 Pro name.
Dimensions of the Rely R08 in the UAE are 5370/1960/1880 mm with a wheelbase of 3,230 mm. It is slightly longer than the Toyota Hilux. The Chinese truck adopts a body-on-frame structure, similar to the ZX Terralord (Weishi 1986) model available in China. The R08’s cargo bed’s length, width, and height are 1530 mm, 1620 mm, and 515 mm, respectively. The payload capacity reaches 1,000 kg.
The petrol-powered Rely R08 adopts a 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated Mitsubishi engine producing 158 hp and 230 Nm. It is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The entry-level Rely R08 comes standard with RWD. Higher trims are equipped with 4WD.
The diesel-powered Rely R08 adopts a 2.3-liter turbocharged ICE from Dongfeng. It produces 161 hp and 420 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The drive type is RWD or 4WD, depending on the trim level.
Rely R08 prices in the UAE
The entry-level Rely R08 with a petrol-powered engine is a basic workhorse with cloth seats, manual seat adjustment, rear parking sensors, an AC, dual front airbags, and four speakers. Its starting price is 62,895 AED (17,125 USD), including 5% VAT.
However, there are much more pricier variants with more fancy equipment available. For example, the diesel Rely R08 Limited Edition offers a 4WD system, a large 15.6-inch touchscreen, a wireless phone charger, a surround-view camera system, and ADAS features. Its price tag is 94,395 AED (25,700 USD), including VAT. For comparison, the Toyota Hilux double cab 4WD model starts from 115,000 AED (31,300 USD) in the UAE.
Chery and Al Ghurair Mobility provide a 5 years or 200,000 km warranty on the Rely R08, whichever comes first. However, this truck has a rather tight service interval of 10,000 km or 6 months. Periodic services should be carried out at AG Cars’ authorized service centers, or the warranty will expire.
