The new Audi A6L started presales in China with a massive price drop of 122,900 yuan (17,780 USD), compared to the previous model, as Audi suffers from declining sales in China. This FAW-Audi-manufactured vehicle starts at 323,000 yuan (46,740 USD).
It is typical for joint ventures between legacy brands and Chinese automakers to launch elongated variants of global models. Examples include the BMW X3L and the Audi Q5L. This trend is caused by a simple rule that a bigger car means a higher status in China. On March 10, the FAW-Audi joint venture commenced presales of the Audi A6L. It is 210 mm longer than its global counterpart.

The Audi A6L stands on the latest Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture. This chassis underpins the Audi Q5L launched in January 2026. The new A6L adopts the brand’s signature design language with a large grille, aggressive bumpers, and sharp headlights. The rear end of the A6L adopts two-storey taillights.
Exact dimensions of the new Audi A6L are 5142/1887/1464 mm. For clarity, it is 210 mm longer, 1 mm wider, and 7 mm higher than the overseas model. The A6L’s wheelbase was stretched by 127 mm, reaching 3,066 mm. As a result, the A6L turned into a massive car, only 178 mm shorter than the flagship A8.
The interior of the Audi A6L formally offers five seats. However, there is a large center tunnel bump in the second row. As a result, it is more of a car for four people. The rear passengers have a lot of legroom, Type-C chargers, climate controls, adjustable backrests, and a wireless phone charging pad in the armrest. The center console comprises an 11.9-inch instrument panel, a 14.5-inch main screen, and a 10.9-inch passenger’s display. Other features include a head-up display and a large sunroof with ambient lighting.
Powertrain options
The new Audi A6L is offered with four powertrain variants. The entry-level model has a 2-liter engine (the 5-gen EA888) for 150 kW (201 hp) paired with a 48V starter-generator and a 7DCT. It sends power to the front wheels only, reaching 100 km/h in 8 seconds. The second version has a 2-liter engine for 200 kW (268 hp) and the same transmission. It is capable of reaching 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds.
The third Audi A6L variant offers a traditional hybrid system that couldn’t be charged externally. It has a 2-liter engine for 200 kW and an electric motor for 18 kW (24 hp) and 230 Nm. This e-motor sits between the ICE and a 7DCT transmission. The third version of the A6L speeds up to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds, due to reduced turbo lag.
The top-trim A6L boasts a 3-liter V6 for 270 kW (362 hp), complemented by the same 18 kW electric motor. This modification’s zero-to-hundred acceleration time is 4.6 seconds. It could also be equipped with air suspension.
Trims and prices
The Audi A6L became available for presales in four trim levels. The trims and prices are as follows:
- Audi A6L Premium 150 kW FWD – 323,000 yuan (46,740 USD)
- Audi A6L Luxury 200 kW FWD – 353,000 yuan (51,070 USD)
- Audi A6L Luxury 200 kW quattro Hybrid – 388,000 yuan (56,140 USD)
- Audi A6L Flagship V6 quattro Hybrid – 436,000 yuan (63,090 USD)
It is worth noting that the new Audi A6L became noticeably cheaper than its predecessor. The outgoing model’s MSRP ranged between 427,900 and 558,900 yuan (61,910 – 80,870 USD) before discounts. The new A6L became 104,900 – 122,900 yuan (15,180 – 17,780 USD) cheaper. Market challenges Audi had faced in China caused this drastic price drop. Its sales declined for two consecutive years, resulting in multiple dealership closures. The new A6L aims to improve the market performance.
