The updated Geely Galaxy Starhine 8 plug-in hybrid sedan commenced presales in China with a starting price tag of 142,800 yuan (20,740 USD). It boasts a LiDAR-based assisted driving system, active suspension, a power output of up to 300 kW (402 hp), and an electric range of 225 km.
The Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 PHEV sedan originally entered the Chinese market in May, 2025. It was available for purchase in seven trim levels within a price range of 125,800 – 165,800 yuan (18,270 – 24,080 USD). According to China EV DataTracker, this model delivered 80,462 units domestically with the record-high sales volume of 10,191 units in October 2025.
However, deliveries of the Starshine 8 have seemingly declined since then, with 3,033 units handed over to clients in February 2026. Geely quickly introduced the updated version of the Starshine 8 to the local market to boost its sales performance. It has numerous upgrades.

The updated Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 retained its exterior styling. It is a sleek sedan with a teardrop-shaped body, a sloped bonnet line, retractable door handles, and two-storey headlights. The new car could be distinguished by two new body colors with quirky names, “Sunny Gold” and “Danxia Mine.” The latter shade is named after the Danxia landform, known for red-colored stones.

Another feature of the updated Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 is a LiDAR sensor on the roof. It is a part of the G-Pilot H5 assisted driving system developed by the Geely-backed Afari Technology, 3% of shares of which are owned by Mercedes-Benz. This ADAS is available for the top-trim car. Its hardware includes a LiDAR, three mm-wave radars, 11 cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. They are powered by the Nvidia Drive Orin chip for 254 TOPS.
The G-Pilot H5 system allows a car to perform the Navigate On Autopilot (NOA) function on urban roads and highways. It also boasts an autonomous parking spot search with no pre-loaded maps required. Previously, the same system was adopted by the Geely Galaxy M9 flagship 6-seat SUV.

Dimensions of the Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 are 5018/1918/1480 mm with a wheelbase of 2,928 mm. Its center console adopts an LCD instrument cluster and a large touchscreen. This infotainment system is powered by the Flyme Auto 2 OS that powers the mentioned Galaxy M9. Its core improvements include an AI-powered voice assistant, a one-screen dual-application function, and compatibility with 90% of smartphones. Other highlights of the Starshine 8 are a head-up display and 23 Flyme Sound speakers.
Powertrain and prices
The updated Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 comes standard with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine and an e-motor. Their combined power output is 257 kW (345 hp). This variant has a fuel consumption of 3.32 liters per 100 km.
The more powerful variant has the new EM-P plug-in hybrid system. It consists of a 1.5-liter turbocharged ICE and an electric motor with a combined power output of 300 kW (402 hp) and 605 Nm. For clarity, the outgoing model was offered in two variants: the EM-i for 257 kW (345 hp) and the EM-P for 280 kW (375 hp). The updated Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 EM-P speeds up to 100 km/h in 6.35 seconds. The fuel consumption is 3.41 liters per 100 km. The EM-P powertrain will be available as an extra option with an unknown price tag.

Another upgrade is a battery pack. The outgoing sedan had two battery options for 8.5 and 18.4 kWh for a BEV range of 60 – 130 km under CLTC conditions. The new version boasts a 28.3 kWh pack. The BEV range of the Starshine 8 EM-i reaches 225 km (CLTC). It supports DC charging with a peak power output of 75 kW, charging from 30% to 80% in 15 minutes.
The mixed range of the Starshine 8 is 1,725 km. Another highlight of this sedan is the continuous damping suspension system. Trims and prices of the updated Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 are as follows:
