The Changan CS75 Plus mid-size HEV crossover starts presales in China with the world-first 500 bar direct injection hybrid engine. It has a tested fuel consumption of 3.54 liters per 100 km and an electric motor for 180 kW (241 hp).

Chinese automakers recently entered the race in the traditional Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) segment. It includes cars with an e-motor and a small battery that cannot be charged externally. Previously, Changan, Chery, and Geely released their HEV systems in response to the gradual phasing-out of government subsidies for BEV, PHEV, and EREV cars.

More about the Changan CS75 Plus HEV

The new Changan CS75 Plus HEV is a hybrid variant of the petrol-powered IV-gen crossover. A massive radiator grille with slanted bars could easily distinguish the HEV modification. Dimensions of this model remained the same at 4770/1910/1695 mm. The wheelbase reaches 2,800 mm. The CS75 Plus HEV has five seats and a continuous damping system.

There is a block made of three screens in the car’s center console. A gear shifter sits behind a three-spoke steering wheel. The car’s center tunnel adopts two wireless phone chargers, a couple of cup holders, and a small block of physical buttons.

The Changan CS75 Plus HEV adopts the brand’s latest iDE-H architecture. It has a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol-powered motor for 110 kW (148 hp). It boasts the world-first 500 bar direct injection system, a high compression ratio of 16:1, and a 30% exhaust gas recirculation rate.

The engine’s thermal efficiency reaches 44.28%. It is far from the recently released BHE-series ICE from Geely with a thermal efficiency of 48.41%. However, it is still a decent number. The Changan’s engine is paired with an electric motor for 180 kW (241 hp). The 1.7kWh ternary lithium battery powers the system. It has a discharge power of 80 kW.

The Changan CS75 Plus HEV’s fuel consumption in the urban scenario is 3.54 liters per 100 km. The mixed fuel consumption rate is 4.67 liters per 100 km.

The Changan CS75 Plus HEV is available for pre-order for 99 yuan (14.5 USD). Customers who placed the deposit would be able to enjoy a 999 yua (146 USD)n discount from the final purchase price. The new vehicle will make a public debut at the Beijing Auto Show 2026, which is scheduled for April 24.

Later, Changan will launch more models equipped with the latest HEV powertrain to boost its market performance. Such cars could potentially enter foreign markets with poorly developed charging infrastructure. According to China EV DataTracker, Changan delivered 138,401 cars in Q1 2026, down 29% Year-Over-Year.
