GWM’s Haval officially launched the long-range Haval Dargo Plus (known as Big Dog Plus in China) PHEV in China on May 8. The SUV starts at 165,800 yuan (24,300 USD), while the limited-time trade-in price starts at 152,800 yuan (22,400 USD).
The main update is the increase in CLTC pure electric range to 200 km, up from 105 km on the currently available version. The company also states the SUV offers more than 1,000 km of combined WLTC range.

Longer EV range
The new variant uses a 33.7 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack. Power comes from a 1.5T plug-in hybrid system paired with front and rear dual motors and a 2-speed DHT transmission. The gasoline engine produces 115 kW and 243 Nm, while system output is listed at 320 kW. GWM says the SUV can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 5.8 seconds.
The Haval Dargo Plus long-range version also adds features such as sentinel mode, built-in dashcam support, and 6 kW vehicle-to-load discharge capability. Buyers can also optionally equip an electronically controlled rear mechanical differential lock.
Design unchanged
The exterior design remains largely unchanged from the current Dargo Plus. The SUV keeps its upright body shape, round headlights, and squared-off styling elements. A semi-closed front grille and “HAVAL” lettering remain at the front, while the rear now adopts “GWM” badging.
Dimensions are 4705 mm in length, 1908 mm in width, and 1780 mm in height, with a 2810 mm wheelbase. The approach angle is 24 degrees, the departure angle is 30 degrees, and the minimum ground clearance is 200 mm.
Inside, the SUV retains a rugged-themed cabin layout with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch floating central infotainment screen. Physical shortcut buttons remain below the display, while the previous centre-mounted gear selector has been replaced with a column shifter.
Haval SUV expansion
The launch follows several recent Haval SUV introductions in China. In April, GWM launched the 2026 Haval H9 with diesel power and a wading depth of 800 mm. Earlier, the automaker also revealed the flagship Haval H10 SUV with a claimed 180 km electric range. The current-generation Haval Big Dog family received updates in 2025, including a revised AWD system and expanded customisation functions.
Sales data context
China EV DataTracker data shows domestic sales of the Haval Dargo II PHEV have remained low in recent months. The model recorded 54 deliveries in March 2026, down 81.5% year-on-year, following 93 units in February and 130 units in January. The March figure accounted for 0.2% of Haval brand sales that month.
