Today, July 9, Dongfeng announced that its brand-new compact SUV called Haohan (皓瀚) under its Aeolus brand is officially open for blind orders. The blind order will end on August 8. The car is available in ICE, HEV, and PHEV powertrain options. The Aeolus Haohan stands on the DSMA 2.0 platform, developed by Dongfeng for ICE and PHEV cars.

In April this year, Dongfeng released its “1258” new energy transformation strategy. “2” means Dongfeng Aeolus will continue to invest in hybrid and pure electric vehicles. “8” refers to the launch of at least 8 new energy vehicles in the next three years. Aeolus Haohan is the first model under this plan, and it is also the first model based on Dongfeng’s DSMA 2.0 platform, focusing on the younger customer groups.

Overall, Aeolus Haohan looks sporty. The slender headlights and the inverted trapezoidal grille embellished with a starry matrix design in the front face make the car highly recognizable. In addition, the bottom is equipped with triangular decorative lights on both sides, adding a sense of novelty.

Interestingly, the PHEV version adopts a closed front grille design.

The rear has a large roof spoiler, a diffuser, and four exhaust outlets, further enhancing the sportiness of the car.

As a compact SUV, the size of Aeolus Haohan is 4653/1886/1730mm, with a 2738mm wheelbase. From the side, the blackened roof trends slightly downward and creates a suspended roof effect. The popular hidden door handles are also present.

Its wheel sizes are available in 18-inch, 19-inch, and 20-inch.

Power

All Aeolus Haohan versions are equipped with Dongfeng’s Mach powertrain system, offering ICE, HEV, and PHEV options. The ICE version is based on a 1.5T engine that outputs 150 kW. Both the hybrid versions are based on a 1.5T hybrid engine and an electric motor, mated to a 4-speed DHT. The HEV version has a combined power of 215 kW and a peak torque of 565 Nm. The PHEV version has a combined power of 265 kW and a peak torque of 615 Nm.

According to official data from Dongfeng, the Mach hybrid DH-i powertrain can accelerate from 0 – 100 km/h in 6 seconds and the HEV & PHEV comprehensive cruising ranges (NEDC) can reach up to 1,200 km and 1,350 km, respectively.

More power and interior information are expected to be released at a later date. We’ll continue to watch closely for more details.
