On April 16, BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao (FCB) brand launched its new Tai 3 all-electric compact SUV in China, available in five trims, with a price range of 133,800 – 193,800 yuan (18,200 – 26,400 USD). The Tai hardcore series is the second series under FCB and the Tai 3 is the first model, offering RWD and AWD with an optional Lingyuan intelligent vehicle-mounted drone system, and equipped with BYD’s “God’s Eye” C advanced driving assistance system as the standard.
Built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo+, the Tai 3 comes with a 20000 RPM motor; the iATS (intelligent All Terrain System) that can automatically adjust the driving modes based on the road conditions such as grass, sand, mud, and snow; and the TSC system that provides stability control in tire blowout scenarios by lifting the affected wheels to allow the other wheels to drive independently. This enables the vehicle to continue at 80 km/h for up to 30 km.
The DiSus-C Intelligent Damping Body Control System is also onboard the Tai 3, which is similar to CDC variable damping shock absorbers with electronic control valves adjusting the damping of the shock absorber.
The standard dimensions of the Tai 3 are 4605/1900/1720 mm with a 2745 mm wheelbase, while the trim with the Lingyuan on-vehicle drone system measures 4605/1900/1930 mm and has the same wheelbase. The curb weight is 1995 kg.
The “God’s Eye” C intelligent driving system is backed by 12 cameras, five millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars, realizing more than 30 advanced assisted driving functions inclduing parking assistance, obstacle avoidance, and highway navigation on autopilot, according to the official.
The Lingyuan vehicle-mounted drone system jointly created with DJI is integrated with the roof. The drone can take off when the car is either stationary or the speed is below 25 km/h, in which the cover automatically opens with an one-click button. Additionally, the drone supports 4K dual-camera shooting and intelligent editing, which automatically generates short videos.
Both RWD and AWD are offered.

There is a 12.8-inch or 15.6-inch floating central control screen, depending on the trims, integrated with BYD’s DiLink 100 cockpit system that supports functions such as voice interaction, online navigation, and OTA updates. An 8.8-inch LCD instrument panel is standard across the entire series, combined with a 12-inch W-HUD on selected trims.
The center console gives off a hardcore vibe featuring numerous physical buttons for vehicle controls and a bulky gear lever. A 50W mobile phone wireless charging pad is also present.
The on-board refrigerator has a temperature range of -6℃ to 50℃ for both cooling and heating.
The front seats support electric adjustment, seat heating, and ventilation. The rear seats support two-level back adjustment, supplemented by a central armrest. Furthermore, the front trunk has a 151L storage volume while the rear external container has a 28L storage volume.
