Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 PHEV with 1,600 km range entered market at 17,400 USD

On May 9, Geely launched the Starshine 8 plug-in hybrid sedan under its Geely Galaxy brand, available in seven trims with a price range of 125,800 – 165,800 yuan (17,400 – 22,900 USD) and two comprehensive ranges of 1,500 km and 1,600 km.

The Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 adopts a fastback design, measures 5018/1918/1480 mm with a wheelbase of 2928 mm, has a drag coefficient of 0.25Cd, and a curb weight of 1908 kg, 1860 kg, or 1760 kg, depending on the trims. Power comes from either Geely’s Thor EM-P or Thor EM-i plug-in hybrid system. The official moose test speed is 80 km/h.

EM-P trims

EM-i trims

  • 82 kW (110 hp) & 136 Nm 1.5L engine mated to E-DHT
  • 175 kW (211 hp) & 262 Nm front permanent magnet synchronous motor
  • 3.43L/100 km comprehensive fuel consumption (CLTC)
  • 8.4 seconds (entry-level) or 7.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 – 100 km/h
  • 8.5 kWh (entry-level) or 18.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery
  • 60 km or 130 km pure electric range (CLTC)
  • 1,600 km comprehensive range

The roof features a 1.36 m2 panoramic sunroof.

Five of the trims come with the G-Pilot advanced driving assistance system, realized via a 126-line roof lidar, five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 10 cameras, supporting parking assistance in over 300 scenarios, evasive maneuver assist with a maximum vehicle stopping speed of 120 km/h, and automatic emergency braking with a maximum vehicle stopping speed of 90 km/h, according to the official. Additionally, the other two trims come with the basic system, realized via two millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and five cameras.

The cockpit adopts a T-shaped layout, equipped with a 10.2-inch LCD instrument panel and a 15.4-inch central control screen, powered by the Flyme Auto system that sits on top of Geely’s self-developed Dragon Eagle-1 7nm chip and integrated with the DeepSeek AI model. A 25.6-inch AR-HUD is also available on selected trims.

Other configurations include an AI voice assistant, OTA updates, 50W wireless charging for mobile phones, 256-color ambient lights, a 23-speaker audio system, 405L of trunk space that can accommodate five 20-inch suitcases, 30 storage spaces throughout the interior, and seat ventilation/heating/massage functions.

As of April 30, Geely Galaxy sold more than 930,000 vehicles since its first car rolled off the production line in April 2023. In particular, from January to April 2025, Geely Galaxy sold more than 356,000 vehicles.
