Onvo, Nio’s mass-market electric vehicle brand, has officially released the details of its energy efficiency and range for its L90 electric SUV. The vehicle adopts a 900V high-voltage platform and comes standard with an 85 kWh battery pack across all variants. Under the CLTC cycle, the rear-wheel-drive version consumes 14.5 kWh per 100 km and delivers a range of 605 km, while the all-wheel-drive version consumes 15.4 kWh per 100 km with a range of 570 km.
These figures place the L90 among the more efficient models in its class. RWD and AWD variants share the same battery pack, suggesting a unified energy architecture that simplifies production and potentially supports battery swapping.
The L90 weighs between 2,250 and 2,385 kg, depending on configuration. Weight savings were achieved through several design optimisations: high-voltage wiring harnesses were reduced by approximately 50% in weight, aluminium brake calliper housings by 19.6%, hollow stabiliser bars by 24.3%, 20-inch low-drag wheels by 11.3%, and the integrated suspension and subframe components by 21.8%. The reported lightweight coefficient is 2.35.
The SUV is powered by the same electric motor used in the luxurious Nio ET9 (see specs) and is equipped with a 1200V silicon carbide (SiC) power module. The AWD variant has a combined output of 440 kW. Detailed performance metrics such as acceleration and top speed have not yet been disclosed.
As of May 15, Onvo users will have access to nearly 2,000 battery swap stations across China. The network also includes 2,438 Onvo-branded chargers and over 57,000 third-party charging points. The shared ecosystem is expected to reduce range anxiety and shorten charging times, especially for users in urban areas.
Visually, the L90 debuted at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show and features a three-row seating configuration. It is expected to offer six- and seven-seat layouts, but detailed interior specifications and comfort features have not yet been made public.
The L90 will be officially launched in the third quarter of 2025 and is expected to debut at the Shanghai Auto Show. It is positioned below the Nio ES8 (see specs), priced between 498,000 and 598,000 yuan (68,600 and 82,400 USD), and is expected to start below 400,000 yuan (55,000 USD).
