Tesla China sold 71,599 units in June, first annual increase since September 2024
Tesla China sold 71,599 cars in June, representing a 16.1% increase from May and a 0.8% year-over-year increase.
This marks the end of eight months of year-over-year decreases for Tesla China, which have persisted since October 2024. This is the first YoY increase since last September.
Tesla China sold 364,474 cars in the first half (H1) of 2025, representing a 14.6% decrease from 426,623 units sold in the same period in 2024.
Tesla China sales are reported as wholesale by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). They do not represent Tesla sales in China – those data will be released later this month – but the sales from the Shanghai factory, representing combined domestic sales and exports.
Tesla’s Shanghai plant produces only two models: the Model 3 sedan and the Model Y SUV. The latter one was the best-selling car in China in 2024, delivering 480,309 units, up 5.2% year-over-year. Model Y was responsible for about 75% of Tesla’s sales in China.
In 2025 so far (Jan-May), Tesla delivered 201,926 units in China, down 7.8% compared with the same period last year, with Model Y sales being down 24%.

On Tuesday, Tesla raised the price of the Model 3 Long-range AWD by 10,000 yuan (1,400 USD), also increasing its range by 40km CLTC and 0-100 km/h acceleration to 3.8 seconds. Model Y AWD received an additional 31 km, bringing the total range to 750 km CLTC, but the price remained unchanged.
On June 26, Xiaomi launched its second model, the YU7 SUV, and got 240,000 lock-in orders in 18 hours. YU7 is expected to impact Model Y sales in China during the second half of the year.
Until last month, Xiaomi was selling a single model in China, the SU7 sedan, launched on March 28, 2028. The company reports that it delivered over 25,000 units in June.
