2026 Zeekr 001 FR to have more than 2,000 horsepower, sources say
Recent leaks from multiple car bloggers (MetaAuto and Hanlu, both from Weibo) suggest that Zeekr is preparing to launch a new version of its 001 FR hypercar with a power output exceeding 2,000 horsepower. If these rumours prove true, it would make it the first Chinese-made vehicle to reach such a performance level. The new model is also expected to feature a revised body designed for weight reduction, necessitating recalibration of its body, brakes, and tyres to handle the immense power.
The Zeekr 001 FR is an all-electric hypercar that debuted with a starting price of 769,000 yuan (107,000 USD) in October 2023. The current model is already a performance powerhouse, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kph in just 2.02 seconds and boasting a maximum power output of 1,300 horsepower.
The 001 FR achieves its performance through a quad-motor distributed electric drive system. Powering the vehicle is a 100kWh battery pack that can charge from 10% to 80% in 15 minutes.

The 001 FR offers specialised driving modes, including a “Raikkonen Mode” designed to provide a driving experience akin to the F1 champion, and an “Overclocking Mode” for increased power output.

Editor’s comment

When Zeekr first launched the 1,300-horsepower 001 FR model two years ago, they proudly declared on social media that “competitors wouldn’t be able to build this in five years.” However, just a few months ago, Xiaomi unveiled the 1,500-horsepower SU7 Ultra. Given the 001 FR’s branding for performance and its significantly higher price point compared to the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, it’s hardly surprising that Zeekr is now rumoured to be releasing a new 2,000-horsepower version. This potential for a 2,000-horsepower Zeekr 001 FR signals an exciting development in the electric hypercar market, pushing the boundaries of performance for Chinese automotive manufacturers.
