Dongfeng, in collaboration with Huawei, officially launched pre-sales for the M-Hero M817 and received 9,713 refundable orders within one hour of the launch. The off-roader, available in two configurations, enters the market with a pre-sale price range of 329,900 to 359,900 yuan (46,000 to 50,000 USD).
The M-Hero M817 offers dual exterior designs: “City Edition” and “Off-Road Edition.” The City Edition features hidden mechanical door handles and low-drag wheels; the Off-Road Edition is equipped with exposed hinges, beadlock wheels, and a 12,500-pound electric winch.
With dimensions of 5100×1998×1899mm (l/w/h) and a wheelbase of 3005mm, the M817 features an approach angle of 33°, a departure angle of 34°, and a minimum ground clearance of 335mm (which can be raised to 385mm with air suspension).

Inside, the M-Hero M817 features a 15.6-inch floating curved central control screen that integrates the HarmonyOS Cockpit 5.0 system. It is complemented by a watch-style rotary knob and aviation-inspired toggle switches.

The vehicle is equipped with 13 power outlets (including a 6kW external power discharge function), dual 50W air-cooled wireless fast chargers.

The M-Hero M817 is built upon a dual platform architecture, combining the Warrior Intelligent Off-Road Architecture M-tech with Huawei’s Tianyuan Architecture. It offers two powertrain options: Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) and Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV).

The PHEV variant features a 1.5T range extender coupled with a front and rear dual-motor four-wheel-drive system, delivering a combined system power of 680 kW (912 hp) and a peak torque of 1280 N·m. This configuration enables a blistering 0-100 kph acceleration in just 4.2 seconds. Paired with CATL’s Freevoy off-road specific battery, it achieves a CLTC pure electric range of 200 km and a comprehensive range exceeding 100 km.

The new vehicle is equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 4 ADAS, supporting full-scenario intelligent driving from parking space to parking space, high-speed navigation assistance, and over 160 parking scenarios.
