GAC and Huawei appointed a CEO for their joint Qijing brand as its first NEV model completed hot-weather summer tests in China. It will enter the domestic market next year with a price range of over 300,000 yuan (42,060 USD).

GAC and Huawei have been cooperating in China for a while as the Chinese IT giant acts as a software provider to GAC-branded models. A foundation for a joint brand became the next step for this company. Its Chinese name is Qijing, which could be translated as Venue. On September 25, GAC and Huawei appointed a CEO for the new brand.

Qijing CEO & the first model

On September 25, Huawei chairman Eric Xu and GAC chairman FengXingya appointed the CEO of the Qijing brand. It is Liu Jiaming, who previously worked in GAC Toyota and GAC Group for over 25 years. It was responsible for sales, product planning, investment strategy, and technical management. Liu Jiaming will use his vast experience to be responsible for brand strategy, product planning, market development, and operational management.

At the same time, Liu Jiaming revealed the first photo of the Qijing debut model, codenamed F03. It is positioned as a middle-to-large sedan with two powertrain variants: BEV and EREV. The photo was taken in a Chinese desert during hot-weather summer tests. The spotted car is covered with camouflage. However, we can highlight its exterior details, including retractable door handles, blackened rims, frameless side-view mirrors, and a ducktail spoiler.

The Qijing F03 will enter the Middle Kingdom in 2026 with a price of over 300,000 yuan (42,060 USD). There is no information about this model at the moment. However, it will most likely adopt the Huawei driver assistance and infotainment systems. Unlike cars under the HIMA umbrella, the Qijing brand will have independent decision-making, unlike the five Huawei brands: Aito, Luxeed, Stelato, Maextro, and Saic.

It is worth noting that last year, GAC revealed the Trumpchi Concept 1 vehicle developed jointly with Huawei. This is a large sedan with a body length of 5,128 mm and a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. Concept 1 has an EREV powertrain with three electric motors and an ICE. It also has a 56 kWh battery, suitable for over 300 km of range on a single charge. There is a chance that the Qijing F03 will partly adopt some technologies and design elements of this concept car.
