Geely Galaxy Starshine 6 PHEV sedan started presales in China at 12,025 USD as BYD Seal 06 rival
The Geely Galaxy Starshine 6 plug-in hybrid sedan started presales in China with an entry price of 85,800 yuan (12,025 USD). It is a mid-size family driver with up to 125 km of electric range and a fuel consumption of 2.8 liters per 100 km. The Starshine 6 aims to rival the BYD Seal 06 and the BYD Qin Plus sedans in China.
Geely Galaxy is a new energy vehicle brand founded by Geely Automobile in 2023 to take care of the rapidly developing BEV & PHEV market. Its current model line comprises twelve models, with the Geely Xingyuan electric hatchback being the bestselling car in China for the first eight months of 2025 (China EV DataTracker data). Geely Galaxy cars sell under the Geely brand outside China.
On September 26, the latest Geely Galaxy model kicked off presales in China. It is a mainstream plug-in hybrid sedan aimed at families. It will challenge BYD’s current bestseller, Qin Plus.
More about the Geely Galaxy Starshine 6
The Geely Galaxy Starshine 6 was previously criticized online for its resemblance to Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The car has a large trapeze-shaped grille with vertical bars and elongated headlights in the front. Its other features include a slanted roofline, conventional door handles, a single taillight unit, and a ducktail spoiler. The new sedan is available in blue, silver, white, and gray.

Dimensions of the Starsine 6 are 4806/1886/1490 mm with a wheelbase of 2,756 mm. For clarity, it is 26 mm longer than the BYD Qin Plus. The Geely sedan rides on 16 or 17-inch wheels, depending on the trim level. It has a McPherson suspension in the front and a torsion beam in the rear axle.
Interior of the Geely Galaxy Starshine 6 offers three color schemes: black, black & brown, and black & white. Its center console has a large floating 14.6-inch display powered by the Flyme Auto OS. It supports HiCar and CarLink functions. However, it doesn’t provide Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A 10.25-inch LCD instrument cluster sits behind the two-spoke steering wheel. The Starshine 6 also has a 50W wireless phone charging pad and a stalk-mounted gear shifter.

The G-Pilot H3 system onboard the vehicle is supported by 11 cameras, three millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars, powered by Horizon Robotics’ J6M chip with a computing power of 128 TOPS. This system can realize high-speed NOA, urban NOA, emergency avoidance assist, memory parking assist, and a maximum cruising speed of 150 km/h.
The Geely Galaxy Starshine 6 is a plug-in hybrid sedan with the latest EM 2.0 powertrain. It comprises a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine for 82 kW (110 hp) and an electric motor for 120 kW (160 hp). The entry-level model adopts an 8.5 kWh LFP battery for a 60 km electric range. More expensive trims offer a 17 kWh LFP pack for 125 km of range. The rated fuel consumption is 2.8 liters per 100 km.

The Geely Galaxy Starshine 6 has a price range of 85,800 – 118,800 yuan (12,025 – 16,650 USD). For comparison, the 2025 BYD Qin Plus DM-i costs 79,800 – 103,800 yuan (11,185 – 14,550 USD). And the BYD Seal 06 DM-i is priced between 99,800 – 139,800 yuan (13,990 – 19,595 USD). Trims and prices of the Starshine 6 are as follows. It will officially enter the market in November 2025.
