2026 BYD Seal 05 DM-i with 2,000 km range enters market at 11,200 USD
BYD officially launched its 2026 Seal 05 DM-i with an increased CLTC pure electric range from 55 km to 128 km and a comprehensive range of 2,000 km, while maintaining the same price at 79,800 yuan (11,200 USD). The new car has not changed much in terms of appearance and interior.

Outside, the 2026 Seal 05 DM-i continues BYD’s “Ocean aesthetics” design language. At the same time, the vehicle has cancelled the automatic grille configuration. Its length, width, and height remain unchanged: 4780/1837/1515 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2718 mm and a minimum turning radius of 5.5 m.

Inside, the cockpit is equipped with a flat-bottom three-spoke steering wheel, an 8.8-inch full LCD instrument panel, and a 10.1-inch central control screen, powered by BYD’S DiLink smart cockpit system. The new car has replaced the crystal gear lever with an electronic column shifter, leaving more space on the center console.

Other configurations include manually adjustable front seats, a 6-speaker audio system, vehicle remote control via mobile phone, six airbags, a 508 L rear trunk, and cruise control.

The plug-in hybrid system comes from BYD’s 5th-generation DM technology, consisting of a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine and a front electric motor. The engine has a maximum power of 74 kW (99 hp) and a peak torque of 126 Nm, while the electric motor generates a maximum power of 120 kW (161 hp) and a peak torque of 210 Nm, providing a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 7.9 seconds.
The 15.87 kWh Blade battery pack extends the CLTC pure electric range from 55 km to 128 km. Under a full fuel tank and full charge, the comprehensive range is 2,000 km and the NEDC comprehensive fuel consumption per 100 km is 3.08 L.
In August, 13,495 units of the BYD Seal 05 DM-i were sold, bringing its cumulative sales to 49,821 units for the first eight months of 2025, accounting for 2.49% of BYD’s overall cumulative sales.
