Changan’s Deepal S05 expands lineup with a more affordable 520 Lite BEV at 16,400 USD
Changan‘s Deepal has officially launched the S05 520 Lite all-electric variant, priced at 116,900 yuan (16,400 USD). This new model serves as the entry-level offering for the S05 series, aiming to meet a broader range of consumer demands.
As an addition to the existing lineup, the S05 520 Lite retains the familiar design language of its siblings, featuring a closed-off grille. Dimensions remain unchanged, with the compact SUV measuring 4620mm in length, 1900mm in width, and 1600mm in height, and boasting a wheelbase of 2880mm.
Exterior features include standard frameless doors, an active air intake grille, mechanical flush door handles, a manual tailgate, electric exterior mirrors, and keyless start/entry.
Inside, the vehicle offers a four-way adjustable steering wheel with customizable buttons, one-touch power windows with anti-pinch function, a manual anti-glare rearview mirror, a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a four-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, and 4/6 split-folding rear seatbacks that can fold flat. Rear air conditioning vents, automatic air conditioning, a heat pump air conditioning system, and a PM2.5 high-efficiency filtration system are also standard.
The infotainment system is powered by a SemiDrive X9SP chip and features a 15.4-inch 2.5K central control screen, supporting CarLink, Huawei HiCar, and Honor Interconnection. An 8-speaker audio system with dual-zone sound source localisation and a single external speaker is also included.
Under the hood, the S05 520 Lite continues to utilise a 200 kW (268 hp) single electric motor. It is powered by a 56.12 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, providing a CLTC-rated range of 520km.
The Changan Deepal S05 entered China in October 2025. It was launched in Europe last month, with a starting price of about 45,780 USD.
The Deepal S05 costs 38,990 – 44,990 EUR (45,800 – 52,840 USD) in Europe, while the BEV variant of this crossover is priced between 119,900 – 149,900 yuan (16,810 – 21,015 USD) domestically. The new 520 Lite version is 3000 yuan (420 USD) cheaper than the most affordable BEV variant.
