Xiaomi SU7 tops 2025 China NEV User Satisfaction Index for second straight year
The China Quality Association, a non-profit organisation, released the results of its 2025 New Energy Vehicle Industry User Satisfaction Index (NEV-CACSI) in Beijing on December 3, according to China News. The overall NEV-CACSI index for 2025 reached 80 points out of 100, a one-point increase from 2024, reflecting incremental improvement in owner-perceived quality and value. Both pure-electric and hybrid vehicle owner satisfaction scores were 80 points, rising by 2 and 1 points, respectively, from the previous year.
The survey evaluates vehicles across five dimensions: overall satisfaction, quality, reliability, performance and design, after-sales service, and sales service. The 2025 survey covered 162 high-volume models from 55 brands and 40 automakers, collecting 25,303 valid responses across 128 cities in five major Chinese regions. Results indicate that independent domestic NEV brands achieved satisfaction scores on par with joint-venture brands, with fewer reported faults per 100 vehicles, particularly in intelligent cabin systems.
The survey also highlighted areas of ongoing concern. Across the industry, faults per 100 vehicles increased to 109, up 18 from 2024, with intelligent cabins (31 faults), advanced driver-assistance systems (22 faults), and interior components (12 faults) accounting for 60 per cent of reported issues. Despite these challenges, satisfaction with quality reliability rose to 80.8 points, and satisfaction with performance design rose to 81.1 points. Owner priorities continue to focus on vehicle performance, reliability, and ride comfort, while interest in low maintenance cost or vehicle aesthetics has declined.
The Xiaomi SU7 tied for first in the pure-electric mid-to-large sedan category for the second consecutive year, according to Xiaomi on its official social media account. Launched in March 2024 as Xiaomi Auto’s first EV, it is produced in Beijing and features an 800-volt “Modena” architecture with multiple battery and motor options. The base Rear Drive Standard Long Range Edition has a 73.6 kWh battery, 299 hp, 0–100 km/h in 5.3 seconds, and a 700 km CLTC range. Mid- and top-tier trims include the Rear Drive Ultra Long Range Pro Edition (94.3 kWh, 295 hp, 830 km) and 4WD Ultra Long Range Max Edition (101 kWh, 664 hp, 800 km). The high-performance SU7 Ultra variant delivers 1,526 hp with a three-motor setup and 0–100 km/h in 2.1 seconds.
The SU7’s ranking reflects owner satisfaction across performance, reliability, and service. The NEV-CACSI results also show common issues and trends among Chinese electric and hybrid vehicles.
