A spy photograph circulating online appears to show BYD’s FCB first sedan undergoing testing ahead of its planned 2026 launch. Chinese media sources indicate the vehicle may be tentatively named Magnesium 9. The new model will be part of the FCB Magnesium sedan series, complementing the brand’s existing Titanium urban SUVs and Beast off-road SUVs, and forming a broader FCB model lineup.
Vehicles in BYD’s FCB Titanium series are sold overseas under the Ti series branding. For example, the FCB Tai 7 is marketed internationally as the BYD Ti 7, including in Thailand. In other regions, BYD’s FCB vehicles are sold under the Denza brand, and the upcoming Magnesium 9 sedan is also expected to enter global markets.
The leaked spy photo shows a mid- to large GT-style sedan with a fastback roofline and streamlined body proportions. The front end features a wide stance with new headlight and grille designs not previously used in FCB production models. Large wheels with distinct front- and rear-rim styles are visible, and the side body shows dual character lines along the doors that taper toward the C-pillar, consistent with a sporty sedan-coupe profile.
The prototype features a roof-mounted lidar sensor, suggesting potential integration with BYD’s God’s Eye B advanced driver assistance system. According to Chinese media, the system could support assisted-driving features such as highway pilot and urban navigation guidance, though these features are not yet confirmed for production.
BYD’s FCB brand launched in 2023 and initially focused on off-road and SUV models, achieving rapid growth in deliveries in China. The introduction of the Magnesium 9 sedan marks the brand’s first entry into the sedan segment, positioning it above its existing SUV models and potentially expanding its appeal in the mid- to large-passenger-car market.
The Chinese sources do not provide official dimensions, powertrain specifications, or pricing for the Magnesium 9. Technical details, including drivetrain type, battery configuration, and performance, remain unconfirmed. Renderings and spy images indicate exterior styling but are not official representations of the final production vehicle.
Industry observers describe the spy photos and company statements as preliminary information regarding FCB’s upcoming sedan plans. Full confirmation of the vehicle’s official name, specifications, and launch timing is expected before the 2026 introduction.
The planned 2026 launch places BYD’s FCB Magnesium 9 sedan within the mid-to-large segment of China’s passenger car market ahead of next year’s model cycle.
