Seal 08 teased: BYD’s Ocean 8 flagship readies for March 5 stage
BYD released official teaser images for its new flagship sedan, the Seal 08. The vehicle is scheduled for a global debut on March 5 and represents the production evolution of the Ocean-S concept, according to IT-home.
Design and Hardware
The Seal 08 implements BYD’s Ocean Aesthetic 2.0 design language, featuring a low-slung front profile, slim LED headlights, and curved daytime running lights. A roof-mounted LiDAR unit is confirmed, indicating the vehicle will carry the God’s Eye 5.0 (DiPilot 300) intelligent driving suite.
While the Ocean-S concept featured camera-based mirrors and rear-hinged doors, the production Seal 08 adopts conventional side mirrors and semi-hidden door handles. The rear design features a through-type LED light bar with a wave pattern.
Architecture and Charging
The sedan is built on an 800V high-voltage architecture. The BYD Seal 08 is expected to include “Megawatt Flash Charging” technology, supporting a 1,500 kW charging network currently being deployed across China.
The vehicle utilises the second-generation Blade battery (Blade 2.0). According to official preliminary data, the system can add 400 km of range in 5 minutes. The flagship trim is expected to offer a CLTC range exceeding 1,000 km.
Technical Specifications
The Seal 08 is equipped with rear-wheel steering to enhance manoeuvrability for its 5-meter-plus footprint. It also features the DiSus-C intelligent damping control system.
