The Hongqi EREV off-road SUV codenamed P567 will make its official debut at the Beijing Auto Show 2026 on April 24. This boxy 5.1-meter vehicle boasts a 2-liter range extender under the hood and four electric motors with a combined peak power output of 620 kW (831 hp).

Hongqi is the oldest Chinese passenger car brand, running since 1958. Its cars were initially intended for use by the Chinese Communist Party’s high ranks. Decades later, its vehicles became available for regular customers. Hongqi currently produces two car series. The first represents the middle-to-high price segment with various ICE, PHEV, and BEV cars. The second is the luxurious Golden Sunflower line, with cars often priced above 1 million yuan (140K USD).

According to China EV DataTracker, Hongqi delivered 75,235 cars domestically in Q1 2026, down 25.3% Year-Over-Year. The FAW-owned brand seeks new market segments to solidify its market position. Recently, we witnessed a rise in demand for plug-in hybrid boxy off-road SUVs in China. It is currently dominated by BYD, GWM, and Chery. Soon, Geely and GAC will also introduce their vehicles in this segment. Hongqi aims to join the trend by launching its newest model, which is the P567 off-roader.

More about Hongqi P567

As mentioned, the P567 is a codename of the new off-road SUV. Last year, Hongqi launched a naming competition for this car. According to previous information, the Hongqi 1927 name won. It refers to the year of the creation of the Chinese Red Army. However, there was no official confirmation for the 1927 name. Therefore, we will keep calling this off-roader by its internal codename.

The Hongqi P567 is a typical boxy off-roader with large plastic wheel arches, blocky headlights, large side-view mirrors, a flat roofline, and a swing-out trunk door with a spare wheel (or a storage box) mounted on it. The vehicle adopts conventional door handles and a LiDAR sensor on the roof. The car’s front end adopts a large grille with vertically aligned bars. The P567’s exterior styling reminds us of the Haval H9 from GWM.

Dimensions of the Hongqi P567 are 5135/2050/1950 mm. Its wheelbase reaches 2,900 mm. For clarity, it is 60 mm shorter, 56 mm wider, and 45 mm higher than the Fang Cheng Bao Bao 8 (Denza B8) SUV from BYD. The P567 recently participated in off-road tests in China, with the media invited. In videos published online, we can notice that this car has a large touchscreen in the center console. Other features include a three-spoke steering wheel with a gear shifter mounted behind it, and two wireless phone chargers.

The Hongqi P567 is an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) with a 2-liter turbocharged generator under the hood. It doesn’t transfer any torque to the wheels. Instead, the P567 powers a battery and electric motors. Speaking of e-motors, there are four of them. Their combined peak output reaches 620 kW (831 hp) and 1,320 Nm. The car has a zero-to-hundred acceleration time of 4.5 seconds. Its electric range is 280 km under CLTC conditions. The mixed range is 1,350 km. The car also boasts differential locks in the front and rear axles.

More information about the Hongqi P567 will be disclosed at the Beijing Auto Show 2026. This car will enter the market this year. Hongqi also actively pushes its overseas strategy. It means the P567 will most likely enter foreign markets after the domestic launch.
