Geely Automobile teased its answer to the Land Rover Defender ahead of the official release. It is the mass-produced variant of the Geely Galaxy Cruiser concept car presented last year. The new car is an off-road SUV that is about to enter the global market this year.

Geely shared official images of its upcoming SUV during cold-weather tests at the Colmis proving ground located in the Arctic Circle next to Arjeplog, Sweden. According to a previous press release, the Chinese automaker tested a climate control system, powertrain efficiency, and grip in harsh conditions.

The newly revealed crossover appeared to be a mass-produced variant of the Geely Galaxy Cruiser concept car. It retains the same body outline, with some noticeable changes, including a single LiDAR sensor on the roof, adjusted bumpers, and more intelligent driving sensors. However, the car still boasts sufficient ground clearance, wide wheel arches, and a swing-out tailgate with a spare wheel mounted on it.

The mass-produced Galaxy Cruiser was wrapped in camouflage. However, we can highlight that this sturdy off-road driver has traditional door handles, sizeable headlights and taillights, and short overhangs. Its exterior styling was clearly inspired by the Land Rover Defender. Previously, Geely officials claimed the Cruiser will enter the global market this year to rival the mentioned Land Rover model.

There is no information about the specs of the Geely Galaxy Cruiser. However, it was previously revealed that this vehicle adopts a plug-in hybrid powertrain. There is a chance this off-roader will share the powertrain with the AWD variant of the Geely Galaxy M9. The latter has a 1.5-liter ICE and three electric motors with a total peak power output of 640 kW (848 hp) and a 41.5 kWh battery pack.

Another standout feature of the Galaxy Cruiser is a swimming mode. The car can cross small ponds at a speed of 8.5 km/h. It will also likely adopt Geely’s G-Pilot H7 assisted driving system with over 30 sensors and Nvidia Drive Thor chip for 700 TOPS. The Geely Galaxy Cruiser will likely debut at the Beijing Auto Show 2026 in late April.
