Patent Applied: Fiat Panda will come to China

Fiat has applied for patent for the Chinese auto market on the Fiat Panda and Fiat Panda 4×4. This means the Panda is on its way to China, where it for its name alone kinda belongs. The Fiat Panda will be made in China by the new Guangzhou-Fiat joint venture.

Patent Applied: Fiat Panda will come to China

Guangzhou-Fiat currently only makes the Fiat Viaggio sedan, and a Viaggio hatchback is on the way. The Panda would be a perfect addition and it would open possibilities for local production of the Fiat 500 that is currently imported into China. The 500 is based on the same platform as the Fiat Panda. When production of the Panda will start is yet unknown, but it won’t be before 2014.
