Today Chery at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show debuted the Jetour Shanhai L7. It’s a mid-sized plugin hybrid SUV available as both a five and seven seater. It comes with an interesting three screen setup inside.

The Shanhai series was launched by Jetour last year with the L9 and is a new energy vehicle series for Jetour which is a Chery brand. The new L7 has a completely enclosed front face with daytime running lights and a thin strip where the hood meets the rest or the car. The lights are in cutouts in the front bumper and the lower bumper has a black trimmed air intake with chrome accent.

There is a slight size difference between the 5 and 7 seat versions with the 5-seater 4760 mm in length and the 7-seater 4785 mm. This difference extends to the wheelbases which are 2720 and 2745 mm respectively. Width and height are exactly the same for the two versions at 1900 and 1720 mm respectively. At the back there are through taillights and the car caries the Shanhai name as part of the badge together with a C-DM badge.

C-DM of course stands for Chery’s Kunpeng plugin hybrid system. This uses a 1.5T four cylinder engine good for 115 kW of power along with an electric motor. Currently the specifications or the electric motor and the capacity of the Gotion battery pack are unknown. Top speed is 180 km/h.

Inside the L7 displayed at the show had a white and blue interior with lattice embroidery. There is a large dual screen setup with an equally sized instrument screen and infotainment unit flowing into each other. Underneath is a screen for climate control which seems to integrate a couple of dials in a rather novel approach.
