The Skoda Rapid hatchback is based on the Skoda Rapid sedan. It will be launched on the Chinese car market in early 2014. It will be made in China by the Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture that also makes the sedan and the identical Volkswagen Santana sedan, which will spawn a hatchback too.

Then there is the identical-too Volkswagen Jetta sedan that is made by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture, we haven’t heard of any Jetta hatchback yet but it seems very likely there will be one in the near future.

The Skoda Rapid hatchback will be available with the same 89hp 1.4 and 109hp 1.6 as the sedan.
