BYD sold 262,161 EVs and PHEVs in July, up 61% year on year, creating a new historical record

In July, BYD sold 262,161 new energy vehicles (NEVs), representing an increase of 61% compared to last year. This achievement broke BYD’s sales record of 253,046 units last month. The cumulative sales in 2023 reached 1,517,798 units, marking a year-on-year increase of 89%.

The production of BYD’s new energy vehicles in July reached an impressive 272,414 units, exhibiting a year-on-year increase of 67%.

Analyzing the sales breakdown, BYD sold 261,105 passenger vehicles in July, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 61%. Among these sales, pure electric models accounted for 134,783 units, exhibiting a growth of 66% compared to last year. The cumulative sales of pure electric models in 2023 reached 751,593 units, representing a noteworthy year-on-year increase of 86%.

Additionally, plug-in hybrid models achieved impressive sales figures, with 126,322 units sold in July, demonstrating a year-on-year growth of 56%. The cumulative sales of plug-in hybrid models in 2023 totaled 757,673 units, showcasing a year-on-year increase of 91%.

Among them, Denza, the joint venture brand between BYD and Mercedes-Benz, sold 11,146 vehicles in July. The vast majority of those sales came from the Denza D9 MPV. Deliveries of the Denza N7 only started at the end of July, so deliveries are small.

The company also experienced substantial growth in overseas sales of new energy passenger vehicles, reaching 18,169 units in July 2023. This represents a remarkable year-on-year increase of 351%. From January to July 2023, the cumulative overseas sales volume is 74,289 vehicles, an increase of 8.3 times year-on-year.

Furthermore, BYD continues to excel in battery production. In July, the company achieved an installed capacity of approximately 12.406 GWh for new energy vehicle power and storage batteries. The cumulative installed capacity for 2023 reached 72.655 GWh.
