The first batch of Geely Zeekr X cars intended for the European market rolled off the production line in Chengdu on Sunday. The electric vehicles (EVs) have already been transported to the port.
Last month, Zeekr shipped out the first batch of the brand’s electric hatchback, 001. The EVs shipped out from the factory in Zhejiang to Sweden and the Netherlands, the car maker’s first markets on the Old Continent. The car is offered for 59,490-67,490 euros (63,500-72,000 USD). The deliveries should start this quarter.
In September, Geely’s EV brand started pre-sales in Germany during the IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich. The manufacturer offered Zeekr 001 and Zeekr X for 59,990 euros (64,000 USD) and 44,990 euros (48,500 USD) respectively. For comparison, 001’s starting price in China is 299,000 yuan (41,000 USD), while X is offered at 189,800 yuan (26,100 USD). The deliveries were announced for the next year.
The first direct sales stores will be open end of the year in Stockholm and Amsterdam. The German store will have to wait until the first half of the next year.
Zeekr’s plans include expanding into Norway, Denmark, and France to cover the majority of the major European markets by 2026. Geely’s brand also plans to enter Middle Eastern markets in the last quarter of the year. Israel will be the first country to see Zeekr’s models.
About Zeekr X and Zeekr 001
Zeekr X is an electric hatchback with 4450/1836/1572 mm chassis that sits on a 2750 mm wheelbase. Aside from the size, the Zeekr X has a lot in common with Smart #1. They share the same SEA architecture. Moreover, their electric motors and the battery are made by the same manufacturer that is VREMT (Viridi E-Mobility Technology), a company fully owned by Geely. The X offers two options. The first one has a 200-kW (272 hp) electric motor on the rear axle. It can speed up from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. As for the second option, it has two e-motors with a total power of 315 kW (428 hp). Its zero-to-hundred acceleration is 3.7 seconds. As for the battery, it is ternary (NMC) with 66 kWh capacity. The RWD models have a 560 km of CLTC range, and the 4WD model can run up to 512 km on a single charge.
Zeekr 001 is a liftback with dimensions of 4970/1999/1560 mm and a wheelbase of 3000 mm. It has two options. The first one is a RWD with 272 hp, and the second has 544 hp. The battery also comes in two options. The smaller one has a capacity of 86 kWh with a CLTC range of 546 km. It comes with 4WD only. The second battery option is a 100-kWh pack for 741 km of CLTC range in the RWD version and 656 km with 4WD. The biggest battery of the 001 has a capacity of 140 kWh. It comes with rear-wheel drive only. And its range reaches 1,032 km (CLTC).
