The BYD Song L fastback SUV started pre-sales in China. It has five trim levels within a price range of 220,000 – 280,000 yuan (30,100 – 38,300 USD). It is available with 4WD and up to 662 km (CLTC) of range.
The Song L is the newest BYD model that stands on the e-Platfrom 3.0 architecture that also underpins Seal, Dolphin, Atto 3 (Yuan Plus), etc. It also adopts the latest brand’s design language called Dragon Face. It has a front end with thin LED headlights and a sporty front bumper with a substantial trapeze-shaped air intake. This SUV also has a sloped roofline and retractable door handles. From the back, the Song L has an active spoiler.
The Song L’s dimensions are 4840/1950/1560 mm, with a wheelbase of 2930 mm. For comparison, it is 115 mm shorter and 49 mm narrower than the Zeekr 001 liftback from Geely. It also adopts the DiSus C suspension system.
Inside, the BYD Song L has a huge 15.6-inch floating rotatable screen and a 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel that sits behind the steering wheel. The Song L also has a 50-inch AR-HUD. The BYD’s DiLink OS powers the in-vehicle system. It also has the DiPilot driving assistance system with over 30 functions. The interior of the entry-level Song L is covered with leatherette. And the 4WD model offers suede-wrapped seats.
Regarding powertrain, the BYD Song L has several options, depending on a trim level.
The BYD Song L will become a competitor of the Zeekr 001 liftback. It offers similar dimensions and powertrain. Geely’s model is more expensive, but it also offers more luxurious functions, such as air suspension.
