The Li Auto Mega electric MPV (minivan) has applied for a sales license in China as it gets closer to the official launch at the Guangzhou Auto Show on November 17. It is a huge 7-seat SUV with 544 hp and 700 km range. It will be manufactured at the brand’s plant in Beijing.
All you should know about Li Auto Mega
The Li Auto Mega adopts the new design language with a sleek bonnet line that merges into the A-pillars and then goes to the sloped roofline. Because of the raindrop-shaped body, the Mega has a drag coefficient of 0.215 Cd. It is an insane result for a large minivan since the Porsche Taycan has a drag coefficient of 0.220 Cd.
The exact dimensions of the Li Auto Mega are 5350/1965/1850 mm with a wheelbase of 3300 mm. It is 20 mm shorter, 37 mm wider, and 30 mm lower than the Mercedes-Benz V-Class. The curb weight of the Mega reaches 2785 kg while the gross weight is 3400 kilos. Its front and rear tracks are 1703 and 1708 mm, respectively. Its approach and departure angles both are 15 degrees. Its overhangs are 900 and 1150 mm, respectively.
Inside, the Li Auto Mega has three rows of seats with a 2 + 2 + 3 layout. According to the registration fillings, the second-row captain chairs can slide forward and backward. But they can’t be folded or flipped over. Only the third row of seats can be folded and flipped over. The trunk compartment depth with the third row unfolded reaches 680 mm. With the third-row seats folded, its depth is 1066 mm. The height of the opened trunk door reaches 1850 mm.
More on Mega

The powertrain of the Li Auto Mega comprises two electric motors. The front e-motor with a peak power of 155 kW (211 hp) is manufactured by Huawei. And the rear engine from UAES offers 245 kW (333 hp). Its total power output is 544 hp, good for 0 – 100 km/h acceleration in 5.5 seconds. According to previous information, the Li Auto Mega’s energy consumption rate is 15.9 kWh/100km.
The CATL’s ternary (NMC) battery of 102.7 kWh powers these electric motors. Its range is 700 km. What is more, Li Auto Mega supports 5C charging technology. It means the charging capacity of this minivan reaches 520 kW, allowing it to charge 500 km in 12 minutes.
The Li Auto Mega will start presales at the Guangzhou Auto Show, which will begin on November 17. Its price tag will be about 500,000 yuan (68,670 USD). Its deliveries are scheduled for February next year.

But there is no “engine” in this BEV.
Also, It looks like the rear doors may be the sliding type, but the sharply slopping roof line probably does not allow for them.
Here’s a photo that shows the rear door open:

Just representing my personal opinion, I think autonomous driving in China will develop very rapidly. However, due to geopolitics, it may be difficult for China’s technology to be promoted globally.
