Huawei and Chery developed all electric sedan, Luxeed S7, will officially go on sale on November 28. The car is the first model developed under Huawei’s Smart Choice scheme, where the Chinese phone maker acts as a 0.5 tier supplier and a seller.
The S7 sedan has been available in presale from 258,000 (35,500 USD). Chery and Huawei offer the car in four trims. The trims offer 550-800+ km CLTC ranges. The top trim comes with a 358,000 yuan (49,000 USD) price tag.
The Luxeed S7 sits on the E0X architecture made by Chery. The same platform supports the Exeed Exlantix ES (Sterra ES) and Exeed Exlantix ET (Sterra ET). The EV supports 800V charging and has an advanced self-driving system. Its dimensions are 4971/1963/1474 mm with a wheelbase of 2950 mm.
The full-size sedan has an air suspension and CDC active damping system. Its front axle has a two-wishbone suspension. The multi-link independent suspension sits in the rear axle. The entry-level Luxeed S7 has a single electric motor on the rear axle with 215 kW output. The 4WD version has two motors with a 365 kW total output. It goes 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds.
Luxeed S7’s motors rely on two different battery packs – 79.934 and 60.48kWh, respectively. The base trim will have an lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) pack, while the long range should have CATL’s M3P battery installed under the hood. M3P battery combines ternary and LFP cells.
Luxeed is a Chery and Huawei’s joint project. In the project Chery is responsible for the manufacturing and development process. Huawei acts as a supplier of key parts. Luxeed models will be sold at Huawei flagship stores inside China. The first brand’s car is the Luxeed S7 electric sedan.
