During road tests, the BYD Dynasty series’ multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) was spotted in China. It will reportedly get the Tang Max name. The spied model is a PHEV with 200 km of electric range. Its price varies from 250,000 to 350,000 yuan (35,000 to 49,000 USD).

BYD minivan spy shots

Thanks to the fresh spy photos, we can glimpse the exterior of BYD’s new minivan. It is still far from the mass-produced model. However, it has a sleek front end with a short bonnet line. Its A-pillars merge into the roofline. The spotted minivan has conventional side-view mirrors, rear sliding doors, and a rear wiper mounted on the tailgate.

Here, we should underline this minivan’s wheels. They have the Tang (唐) logo on the wheel hubs. It hints that this MPV will become a part of the Tang family. Previously, BYD launched the Song Max multi-purpose vehicle as a part of the Song series. They can follow the same strategy as the BYD Tang. So, this MPV will highly likely get the BYD Tang Max name.

There is no interior photo. However, we can notice the signature BYD’s 15.6-inch floating rotatable screen. Inside, this minivan will have three rows of seats. Currently, it looks like a reasonable family transporter.

BYD minivan specs

The tested minivan has a sheet of paper attached to its front right fender. It sheds light on its specs and testing phase. The spotted MPV undergoes BMS and LBMS tests and some battery studies. According to this sheet, this vehicle is a plug-in hybrid with a pure electric range of 200 km under an unknown driving cycle. Most likely, it is the NEDC number. For clarity, the Denza D9 DM-i minivan has up to 190 km of NEDC range in electric mode.

The exact dimensions of the Dynasty series’ MPV have yet to be revealed. It is slightly smaller than the Denza D9, which body length reaches 5250 mm. So, the new minivan can be 5 meters in length. It will most likely adopt the BYD’s fifth-gen DM-i plug-in hybrid system that will be also adopted by BYD Qin L.
