BYD Introduces the Honor Edition of its Destroyer 05 Model

On February 19th, Chinese automaker BYD officially launched the Honor Edition of its compact sedan, the Destroyer 05. The last update to the Destroyer 05 came in August last year and was previously announced in April last year as well. The original Destroyer 05 was launched in 2021. On this latest update, six different configurations are available, and the prices of the new models range from an impressive 79,800 yuan (11,000 USD) to 128,800 yuan (17,900 USD). The updated version offers two options for pure electric range: 55km and 120km (based on NEDC standards).

Along with the release, BYD has prepared multiple purchasing benefits for first-time young buyers, including a “2-year interest-free” plan and “free OTA system upgrades,” aiming to maximize cost savings for young families venturing into the electric vehicle market.

In terms of design, the new model maintains the polygonal grille shape seen in previous editions. The interior features dotted elements, complemented by the brand-new BYD logo and large vertical air intakes on both sides, giving the vehicle a sporty appearance. Additionally, the Destroyer 05 will offer a new body color option called “Inkstone Blue,” enhancing its overall sophistication.

The body profile presents smooth lines and slightly protruding front and rear fenders, creating a visually wider stance. At the rear, the vehicle has a clean design, accentuated by the integrated taillights and the “Build Your Dream” emblem positioned above them. The car’s dimensions measure 4,780mm in length, 1,837 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,718 mm.

Moving to the interior, the new model comes equipped with standard features such as rear air conditioning vents, one-touch start, power-adjustable and heated exterior mirrors, automatic air conditioning, a 12.8-inch adaptive rotating floating pad, DiLink intelligent connectivity system, and a full-scene digital key.

Regarding the powertrain, the Honor Edition will be equipped with BYD’s DM-i plug-in hybrid system, consisting of a 1.5L engine and a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The engine delivers a maximum power output of 81 kW and a torque of 135 Nm. The electric motor offers two power options: 132 kW with a maximum torque of 316 Nm or 145 kW with a maximum torque of 325 Nm, depending on the chosen variant. The vehicle will have LFP battery, providing a pure electric range of 55km or 120km according to NEDC standards.

With the introduction of the Honor Edition of the Destroyer 05, BYD continues to aim to attract a younger demographic by offering an appealing design, competitive pricing, and enhanced purchasing benefits.
