On September 13, the Chinese MIIT disclosed the declaration details of the Geely Galaxy Starship 7 plug-in hybrid SUV.
The Geely Galaxy Starship concept vehicle was unveiled at this year’s Beijing Auto Show in April, which sits on Geely’s new GEA (Geely Electric Architecture) platform. It was reported that the model will be positioned as a technology flagship SUV and that the mass-produced version might be named Geely Galaxy L9 according to the Geely Galaxy’s product plan. Note the final name is subject to the official announcement.
For the exterior, the front face adopts a closed design coupled with a through-type light strip that connects the sharp headlights on both sides. The rear features a high-mounted brake light, three additional lights at the bottom, and a through-type taillight group with the Geely letter logo beneath it. The Starship 7 logo is also located under the right side of the taillight group to indicate the car’s identity.
The Geely Galaxy Starship 7 has a length, width, and height of 4740/1905/1685 mm, respectively, a wheelbase of 2755 mm, and runs on 18-inch/19-inch rims. Two curb weight options are declared: 1724 kg and 1790 kg; the approach angle is 18°, and the departure angle is 20°.
The optional exterior kits include window trim, roof luggage rack, sunroof, door handles, side mirrors, rear windshield wiper, rear radar, gloss black wheel arches, side skirt trim, and external cameras.
Earlier in June, the official released the official images of the Starship, featuring a large trapezoidal screen that integrates the functions of the instrument panel, central control screen, and co-pilot entertainment screen, a polygonal double-spoke steering wheel, and a small screen facing the driver side on the front of the center console. The interior can seat five people as the standard.
Other notable configurations include a 27-speaker audio system, the Galaxy AI Digital Elf that can realize capabilities such as voice interaction, and AI smart seats.
Furthermore, power comes from a plug-in hybrid system composed of a 1.5L engine model BHE15-BFN with a maximum power of 82 kW (110 hp), paired with a lithium iron phosphate battery pack provided by SVOLT or Sunwoda Electronic. The top speed is 180 km/h. The detailed battery and electric motor parameters have not been revealed at this time. We’ll watch for more information closely.
In August, Geely Galaxy sold 26,510 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 138% and a month-on-month increase of about 59%, accounting for almost 15% of Geely’s monthly sales. The cumulative sales from January to August were 124,635 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of more than 304%.
